I have recently went through a hard period of extreme fatigue. After trying out a lot of energy meds I have finally gone back to my original one adderall and adderall ER. But now for some reason, I dont wake up in the morning until 10:30-11:00. And this is only because my kids wake me up. I've tried using an alarm clock, but I must be turning it off in my sleep. When I do wake up, after someone making get up, I notice multiple missed calls on my phone. The phone calls you would think would wake me up but I never hear my phone ring which is set on the loudest ring tone. I get atleast 12+ hours of sleep a night. I just don't understand how I can sleep for that long at a time. What really bothers me is what if no one woke me up. How long would I sleep then? Plus I have kids awake and running around the house for atleast 3 hours while I'm completely out. I've talked to a counselor about this and he said not to be ashamed. But I am. Anybody out there have any advice? Thanks!

Usually I get a daily influx of emails on health topics. An article from Dr. Mercola really stood out recently though because it mentioned that fat cells have their own mitochondria. Not only was this the first I'd heard of this, he also mentioned that fat serves a purpose in our metabolism. Another new factoid for me. The bottom line for me was to appreciate that even our fat cells play a...

I just do not feel well and I really think that it's because I cried yesterday on my way to work about my Aunt who is in the hospital. I don't think that we will have her much longer. She is very frail. Now she needs help eating. So, this is the third time in a year that I felt this way after crying. I think crying releases toxins into my body. I also worked up a sweat at the gym...

MS fatigue can be horrible. It's a constant battle for me. I also go through periods where I'm so tired that I can't sleep. It's not often but is just as frustrating.
What other meds are you taking (baclofen, gabapentin, etc.) that may cause sleepiness? When I tried baclofen, I would have trouble waking up and would wake up groggy and hungover feeling.
First off, I'd see a naturopath, if you can. I used to love taking Provigil but I haven't taken any since it became a "controlled sustance." I try to exercise and get foods that are glutathione boosters. You may or may not already know... glutathione is what helps the mitochondria create the cell energy.
Anyway, see if you can get off of the adderill, it sounds dangerous to be that sleepy. Try exercise. At a naturopath office, you can get a glutathione push and will feel full of good energy. How's your Vitamin B12 level?
Just some ideas. I'd definitely consider some alternatives to the med you're on.
Hang in there!
Anyway, keep trying. Practice makes perfect.
Also, don't be ashamed of anything when it comes to MS. It is all natural. What about Provigil? I hear what Lorrie is saying but I take Provigil because my fatigue is bad. I know that keeps most people up like crazy. Also, so does Ampyra? That is for walking help and it is supposed to keep people up. They don't want up taking that except in the mornings.
I have the opposite problem of having trouble sleeping. That is my MS symptom. It has affected my ability to sleep ever since my MS took over. So perhaps you have the opposite problem. I take sleeping meds and they work for me so perhaps there is something that will work for you to keep you up.
