Are you getting injections of this? I had to get off the morphine sulfate as it was playing hell with my stomach/intestines.

Please let us know more about this. I'm like you - pain in the legs and wow does it ever stop you from doing too many things in life.

Oh, Carolinagirl, I am sooo happy it's working for you! Right after I told you the other day that my leg pain is tolerable most days, that I have more good days than bad... I jinxed myself! Actually, I think it's the fact that our summer heat just hit. It's like we skipped most of spring. The change in temps always stirs things up for a bit. I meet with my neuro tomorrow for the study I am in, so I am going to ask him about it. It may not be the right thing for me just yet, since mine isn't 24/7, but I just want to have a discussion about it.

This is in pill form. no injections. I believe it has morphine in it. I read up on it on their website and thats all I know. I dont even know how to act, having no pain :) :) It does seem to wear off after 6 hrs.... The prescription is to take two times a day, I think 3 a day would be perfect. Its working for me, hope it can help others.

That is wonderful that you are pain free! Do you have stiffness in your legs? Would this med work for stiffness? I can't find anything that has helped it. Grasping at anything.

I do have some mild stiffness, heaviness, but mostly muscle tightness, especially in my calves , I take zanaflex for that. That to me seems to help better than baclofen.

Wonderful news Carolinagirl! This is the medication I've mentioned to you in previous posts. I've been on Opana for a year now, am up to 40mg. twice a day and it's wonderful. (I started at 5 mg. too) I take the extended relase tab every 12 hours. For breakthrough pain I have 5mg. of the regular Opana which I can take up to 3 times a day. You might need to bump up the 5 mg. dose if you are still experiencing pain and check if you are taking the regular or time released dose. It's an opiate, not morphine. I also have a small dose of morphine tab .5mg. for breakthrough pain that I take when needed, but the Opana 5mg. works so much better that I don't take the morphine.

As you said, there are no head games that come with this medication which make it wonderful. I'm so glad you have finally gotten some relief. It makes a world of difference when you are looking to improve your quality of life. It is addicting though, as it is a narcotic, but it's an addiction that I have just resigned myself to and I'm okay with it.

My doctor is very careful with writing the script for it. I cannot run out and they cannot write the script to fill in advance. The script has to be filled exactly 4 weeks from each other. Be careful with this, as you will start going through withdrawals if you don't keep your medication supply current.

Its a great new med for me. But Ive noticed I have to take it EXACTLY as it says, take on an empty stomach. If i take it then eat it doesnt work near as good. And who cares if its additive, I need it. I cant believe Im been in such pain for 5 years!, why did I have to suffer so long, it put me out of work! Thanks for you reply :)

This is just great news! I'll see what the side effects are and I'll ask my doctor about it tomorrow when I go. I'm as sick of this leg pain as you have been and yes, it is very incapacitating.
