I have been taking Nuvigil for about 9 mos. It took me about 1-2 weeks to adjust to it, but it helps me work. Before that, I took Provigil, but I lost all energy by 1 p.m., not good for my job. The doc told me that Nuvigil is more of a time released drug. I don't feel the extra energy, but it helps me function.

I had to be on 250 mg of it, but I liked it... The chemical formula (I can be a science nerd sometimes lol) is a entaniomer of provigil..... or as my prior neuro tried to put it... it has a little something extra in it. I really didn't feel it though in comparison to provigil due to the time release property of it (as Lynn said)... Its just that 200 mg of provigil wasn't quite cutting it for me anymore. Now that I am off it I MISS IT! Stupid Iowa medicaid! I miss going through a day without falling asleep multiple times most days.

Well I just went to my doc today and asked for Nuvigil, the Provigil makes me very nauseous. When he said he had to look it up....I knew I wasn't getting any. If he didn't know what it was then I knew it wasn't available, and it wasn't. At least not in Canada yet.

He offered some others to me but I just said I'd keep up with the Provigil for now, wait and see if the Nuvigil comes to Canada anytime soon. Bleh on the feeling sick all day long though, I really had my hopes up.

It sounds like the company's patent is expiring on Provigil, so they are making a new drug. That's why it's so expensive. There's also some info in the article for getting the drug for less $. According to many of the responses, Nuvigil is working well for a lot of people.

I'm not a fan of feeling "drugged", since I feel that way most of the time. It's different if you would CHOOSE to feel that way! lol
