MS demylination effects nerve signal conduction & therefore is different symptom wise in each of us depending on which nerve pathways are being demylinated.

With that fact...Demylination can disrupt or scramble how your brain interprets the feeling of heat or even cold depending on your personal experience, symptoms & path of demylination with MS inside your body...

This is true with ANY MS symptom one experiences...

MS is a process of disrupting or scrambling brain signals...in short...So loads of body functions can go haywire unfortunately with MS...

BUT, not every patient breaks down on every level & NOT every MS patient breaks down in exactly the same way!

I have a question about not feeling the cold on parts of your hands...Were you maybe completely numb on the other part of your hand where you couldn't feel the heat?

I've experienced what I call "Ghost-Hand" (where it's like my hand or hands go completely numb) & it's like they are not even there.

So maybe (I wonder) were parts of your hand & your other hand completely numb & that might be why you couldn't feel the heat in those areas?...Just a thought!

Thanks for the response BelueMyst. I feel less stressed now knowing that it's probably a related thing (even if it is new). The best way I can think to describe it is that my right hand felt deadened. My left hand was fine though. I actually checked it after I posted this. (I know I probably shouldn't attempt my own mini neuro exam, sigh.) I very carefully poked myself with the point end of a pocket knife on my fingertips. The right thumb, index finger, and middle finger all register pressure but not that it's sharp. The other fingers are fine.

I called my neuro because this is definitely something new. They can't get me in any sooner than the appt I already have on May 5th. I asked if there was anything I can do in the meantime, she said she'd ask and call back. No call back yet and it's almost 5 pm. I'm so frustrated right now.

i have noticed it a couple times in the shower...I keep turning the heat up thinking it is not a hot shower until when I get out I am actually red like a sunburn and my husband told me the water was way to hot for a shower....my problem was all over at the time, but it is not constant, and has only happened 2 or 3 times...not sure about it. But I do pay more attention now.

SaffyreMyst---I do that all the time. I never thought of that as being a symptom though. I wonder if maybe this is just the first time I've really noticed it before since my two hands had different reactions.

I have the opposite problem. When I hold a cold can of soda in my hand, it is painful.
Who knows....
