Wheelchair Kamikaze found and posted these articles investigating the development of plaques. The researchers found evidence that does not fit with the mainstream thought on how lesions develop and which cells are responsible.It looked like the T and B cells were not there to do damage, but to help in the clean up and repair process. I wish I had read these before my neurologist visit last week. Any thoughts on this?

Kamikaze does a little explaining of the findings. Nice if you're not too scientifically inclined. The Accelerated Cure published one of the articles as well.

Yes, this is what I have been saying might be happening. Immune cells have several functions. 1.) protectors that get rid of attackers or unrecognized bodies (includes proteins it does not see as familiar) 2.) garbage men that get rid of necrotic (dead/dying tissue). I think MS is a metabolism issue that leads to tissue degrade and then functional loss. If the myelin is starving there would be more dying tissue that needs to be cleaned away. My hubby's blood work shows there are necessary components to myelin that he does NOT seem to be making.

Not sure for some if the abnormal metabolism could also cause an abnormal protein to be produced. I seen some papers a while back from a doc that found liver produced abnormal proteins when a sex hormone was deficient. When deficient hormone was replaced the protein stopped being produced. Your brain engages in its own metabolism...could this be happening here?

I forgot to add, the article was from research done in 2004! Not super recent, but this is the first I've heard of it.

If that was true then why would Tysabri be so effective like it is?

Does it also stop the transport of macrophages? I know it blocks one of the carrier molecules.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus).
