I had been behaving very out of character, doing some impulsive things, and the neuropsych explained that it was a symptom of the damage in my brain. He had compared my testing to my MRI's.
Also, my deficits in memory, motivation, etc..there were explanations for all of it.
Yes, fatigue and depression can contribute, but if you're being treated for those symptoms, as I was, then a trained neuropsych can get to the bottom of it, and help you.
Bah.
but am switching ms clinics shortly and am going to ask to have some of this testing done..just out of coursity sake...i think it would be rather interesting to have..and also a useful to ...if im willing ot read anything i can about ms..smile..why not learn about it through myself as well??
if you do decide to go through with it..let me know how it goes hon..i would be courious please as i should be getting an appt. in next couple of months and like to just hand them a peice of paper..rofl

I just went to the Uof Fl site that was posted and took that online cognative test...can't wait to take the time to read the results then I'm going to go back tomorrow AM and take it when I'm not tired and see if there's a difference....
Other then that...I agree that it was very tiring!
The savings go first, the lifespan lasts longer.
So I declined the test, out right refused it. I said all I could see that it does is measures decline, it doesn't help with treatment decisions. We would have to do this manually & he would have to trust me when I tell him there is cognitve decline.
I think MS slows nerve conduction, except in a relapse which might stop nerve conduction outright temporarily or when it goes progressive, which is actual nerve damage.
So I have read that MS people think slower. They are able to process complex thought, they might do it slower.
That's what I would expect a neuropsych test for me to show. Everyone has had MS long before they were diagnosed & a person makes adaptations to neuro-cognitive decline. Without even knowing they have MS.
I always viewed myself as a methodical thinker. I have to think things through..aka...slow thinker.
I'm someone who catches jokes, months after I hear it. I'm gullible, easy to pull a scam on. I think slow.
I had a mentally intense occupation, engineering, and I wasn't the quickest of my collegues, but I had a whole lot of stick-to-itive-ness. I took a lot of notes, so I could methodically process the information - slow thinking again.
I tend not to be attracted to message board's trading alot of quick come backs, quips, smart alec comments. I think too slow & too methodically. I think that is more than personality, I think that is MS too.
I have read of posts where people were advised to not drive in high traffic locations after a neuropsych test because their response time was too slow.
That's what I would have expected from MY neupsyche test if I had done one. I already do not drive in high traffic locations...it's not fun anymore. I don't listen to the radio when I drive. I have adapted to MS related neuro psych decline. Don't need to spend the $ to tell me. Neuro agrees;respects methodical thinking.
and your right...also in the aspect that i fully believe we all hit the point when we do realzie that oops im losing the cogniative fight here...
for me it was a easy one..smile..cant spell..cant remember the kids names..they were oldest..middle one..and hey you..
absoultly cannot stand to have to much noise when someone is talking..and i used to multi task at work like you would not believe..i thrived on it..smile..while raising my three kids and a foster daughter..
yep you hit the point one day..look around and think...okay something has changed..i dont think you need to pay for a test for that one...lol...hell i just sit here and try to spell TN by the actual name and i know im gone..grin...
