I've been having leg pain, but you know the kind that doesn't feel better with advil. I was prescribed Neurontin 300 mg once a day and up it to 600 mg a day after 3 days. Does it wotk? Will I really gain as much weight as everyone says? How long will I have to take it? I feel like this pain will slowly go away just like all my flare ups have.

I was on Neurontin for many years for chronic nerve pain. It worked for pain and I didn't gain weight but I'm not one to easily gain weight. I am on Lyrica now.

If anything will make you gain weight, it's Lyrica (I never gain weight, yet that made me gain, that's literally unheard of in all my life despite anything I ever ate). :P

I'm on Neurontin, and I find it to be effective to an extent. Of course, it doesn't compete with narcotic pain-killers, but as a non-narcotic, it's the best I've found so far besides tramadol.

I have been on neurontin and still am three times a day for leg pain and used to be on Lyrica. Both cause weight gain. If one watches what they eat and the amount of exercise one gets it can be managed however. Discuss with your doc if you are concerned. Marilyn
