I highly recommend Dr Sharon Lynch at KU. I live in Blue Springs, MO and it is about 30 minutes away. She is at the top of her field in ms and does research, clinical trials. She spends time with you at each visit.

Sharon Lynch is the neuro I'm waiting to see. I've heard NOTHING but FANTASTIC things about her! In fact an atty at work recomended Lynch. These rum dums at Truman and Swope (I got stuck w/ in my no ins phase)....just give new meaning to the phrase, you get what you pay for. Thanks guys! I'll try to wait until Sept. The final straw was Truman's Neuro clinic denying me Xanax for MS/Rebif related anxiety attacks. WTF!??! (sorry wtg. on my Xanax to arrive....everybody needs FRIENDS) :o) (I've researched some of Lynch's research....she knows her stuff!) I will take a look at Arkin and Swartman too. Thanks again! I'm going to have to disagree on this one. One of my best friends also has MS, and has seen Dr. Lynch as well as other neuro's at KU and had the exact opposite experience. It took them A YEAR to diagnose her, despite the fact that she had more than 100 obvious lesions on her brain. I refused to go to KU, not just for this reason, but their track record for quality of care in other areas is dismal.

I see Dr. Karen Olds. She's in the St. Luke's system, and has several offices around the city. She was a nurse before she went to med school, and has an incredible bedside manner. Very down to earth, and an excellent listener. Her office is also a trial site for new meds, including the new oral med that is in the final trial stages. From your post I'm guessing you're near Midtown. She has an office on the Plaza (among others). She saw me immediately for my initial visit, scheduled my MRI's within the week, and follow up's take about a month, which is par for the course in this field. She spends about 30-40 minutes with me each visit. She also showed me my MRI, so I could see for myself what's going on. Also, emergency calls are promptly returned, usually same day. Thanks KS Kerry! Karen Olds is in my network AND was on my short list before the atty at work SWORE by Lynch....I WILL say this much. If KU turns out ANYTHING at all like Truman, I swear to God, I'm OUTTA there lightening speed! The only thing saving this silly cow at Truman is the fact that is I managed to "acquire" some Xanax (God bless neurotic lawyers!) :o)...Do some of these "self-called" specialist even bother to read the dang pharmaceutical pamplets they send home with us?....How many times does Rebif, Betaseron and the other CRAB therapies list "Depression and Anxiety" as a potential common side effect. (...I would say its not "brain surgery"...but EXCUSE ME, THAT's what freakin Neuro's do!!!):o) ...also I'm discovering its not how good the dr is, but also their "frontline" staff. I love Thompson (Chief of Neurology)at Truman, but his people!...correction, SOME of his people...DUH!...READ the info damn-it! (again, I digress.)

I will also add tghat Dr Steven Arkin he is a bit rushy but he is good... I Love Dr Swartman though he takes his time infact I seen him and he took mor time and did a better exam than I had in my intital visit with Dr arkin. I am in the process of trying to switch to to dr swarztman... not sure how to do it for a dr in the same office....
