Hi,
I have severe nerve pain. Just about all over my body. It is worse on my hands and my feet. I take Gabapanten 400 mg twice a day. I have recent started taking Tramadol also. I don't remember the strength of it. I know I can take it 4 times a day. I also use voltaren ointment or pennsaid liquid.they work ok.
Do most of you have very bad nerve pain? Where do you have the pain the most? Do you take something different than the above meds for your nerve pain? Do you take something for nerve pain that is specifically used by those with MS? If so what is it?
If you would be so kind as to just answer the above questions I would greatly appreciate it. Don't worry you dont need to talk to me if you don't want to. My goal is to manage my pain from now on. Have all the symptoms of MS but MRI says no. so have to learn to live with it and don't look back. Hey! Not too bad...docs say I will be dying from liver disease in 20 years so I figure keeping pain at bay is best for me.Thanx the good times and good memories...never meant to make any one feel bad. You guys will all always be in my prayers
Love

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
My nerve pain is in my legs from thighs down to my feet. I take Lyrica for my nerve pain. It works for me well. I tried stopping it once and realized how bad my pain was, so I started it back up again. This was not a medication I could drop. I also go to a pain management clinic where Lyrica was prescribed, along with some pain medication, Opana ER. The combination works well together for me and keeps my pain level at a managed level.
Even though you don't have a dxd, it doesn't prevent you from managing the symptoms. Pain comes to all of us, suffering is optional. Try seeing a pain management specialist to help you deal with this nerve pain.
Nothing works for nerve pain without tons of side effects imo so don't underestimate all the little natural things you can do! but you've got to be strict.
Supplements like alpha lipoic acid, especially when combined with L-carnitine, are very effective at reducing overall pain. Concentrate on anti-inflammatory and/or MS diet--diet has made a HUGE difference in the amount of pain I have daily
Consider a natural pain reliever/muscle relaxer/anti-inflammatory like Cannabis. yes, I know what people say but screw them they don't know how bad chronic nerve pain is!
Changing your lifestyle is necessary as well--knowing how much you have to "spend" before youre spent. Delegate tasks, reduce stress in every way you possibly can (even if it means not doing things you used to for self/others)
I could go on with all the specific research, diet tips, etc but that would take forever LOL Ask if you want to know more! Or read Epagain's posts! she kicks ass at helping her husband naturally but also recommends a few other things you might find interesting
take care!
One that is well known is that sugar contributes to neuropathy, this is especially seen in diabetic neuropathy.
So if you stick to some complex carbs (brown rice, etc) that can be converted to sugar SLOWLY and try to eat less sugar this MAY reduce (not eliminate) some of your nerve pain.
Best wishes to you,
EP
and baclofin- 4 muscles- big hugs!! hope u better!!
I am not going into who told this to me as they did not say I could mention their name. However, the point is that this may be a potential option to help relieve the nerve pain.
I hope you can find something that helps you,
EP
THEN I found the miracle pill for me - Amytriptiline 25 mg. Came off Lyrica and pain almost gone. Took 4-5 years to find it. I also use Lidocaine patches. I have had a couple of doctors recommend alpha lipoic acid and L-carnatine for overall MS treatment. I use Tiger balm and icy hot too and a tens unit.
You also may want to see a pain management dr or wholstic doctor as nerve pain can be very difficult to treat, I have had acupuncture off and on for many years got temporary relied with it for nerve pain.
I've spent the last 14 years living daily with ice.
Good luck,
Melanie
