I have always used Avonex and the thought of THAT kinda big needle bending and getting stuck in me is pretty horrifying to me! I wasn't sure what one you use and I was pictureing the bit more than an inch long one bending and getting stuck on a bone!!!

Mine never got stuck but I often noticed that it was bent after I pulled it out. Not pleasant! It would usually bleed and leave a nasty bump and or bruise.

I would call the manufacturer and let them know this happened to you. Maybe your autoinjector has become faulty? You might want to ask them about a replacement. Sounds awful!!!

Sorry this happened to you-ouch!! I use the auto injector for Rebif & was noticing the needle was bent several times after injection. Also had the needle not inject into my skin but the view finder showed like needle had injected. This happened several times and when I pulled the autoinjector away medicine squirted out all over. Called mslifelines & the nurse had a new injector sent out. I hadn't had a new injector in 7 years. Haven't had any issues since the new injector arrived. Definitely call & report what happened-I'm not familiar w/how copaxone is injected. Do you load or is it already preloaded?

I would definitely call the manufacturing co & ask for a new autoinjecter

I have had a bent needle, but never one that got stuck. I stopped using my thighs as an injection site because it hurt.

All the drug manufacturers have a toll free phone number with reps and nurses to speak with. They report problems with their equipment to the FDA.

Give them a call. They can help you regarding this problem. Their nurses are there for you when you have questions.

I used to autoject for years when on Copaxone. Then one day I tried it manually. It was so much better. Much more gentle. I would say ditch the injector. Just pinch a good amount, a couple inches, of flesh with the other hand and insert the needle a little way into it
Let go and push the plunger down slowly. Took a little of getting the hang of, mostly just getting comfortable with the idea, but I much preferred it to the autoject. And since they started using the smaller needles a few years back, I hardly felt anything. I'm sure there is a video somewhere to show it being done manually. I'm thin and it was not a problem.

I second what brianap says. I have better luck using the manual injection method than the auto injector. I cannot get the new auto injector for Rebif to work easily. I have push and push for it to work. I hate it and that is what inspired me to go to Tecfedera.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. That was the first time it happened and I was having some issues with the auto injector so it may be going bad. It was not stuck long and after I pulled a couple of times it came out but the thought just had me ready to panic. Fortunately the needles for the copaxone are small and thin. I did have a little swelling but it went down. I think I will give them a call and report the issue. I'm not sure I am ready to go manual. I still have problems looking when using the auto injector. It is good to know how to do it though. I may get one of the nurses to come out an show me or ask my cousin who is a nurse to guide me though it.

I had to ask for a replacement for the injector a few times already for the past 2years. Never had the needle stuck or bent but the issue I had was that the needle would go in the skin but the medicine wouldn't, so I had to take the injector out and the medicine would squirt out.

Yes, like you I'm not ready to do it manually and I'm not sure I will ever be.
