Hi everybody,

Can I ask you guys for some real info? I'm not finding a lot online...

I started a (wonderful!!) relationship with my best friend Ted this summer. I'm so happy. I'd like some info though... He has PPMS. He's had it for about 15 years. His legs are weak and hurt, and has to rest when he walks for a block or two. He has to rest in the afternoons and has to be patient when he has to pee. He seems a little fuzzy mentally sometimes, but it's not a big deal.

I am fine with it. I told him that I would only worry if he became a different person- mean, bitter, etc. I don't really care about walkers or wheelchairs. Or urinary bags, if it goes there. He's great.

*But what should I expect?* I know that it's pretty individualized, but I'm looking for best case / worst case scenarios, I guess. I can't find much online. Does anybody have any thoughts?

each person with spms and ppms is diffrent ms seems to have a mind of its own I personally belive its how you mentally handle each thing that it throws your way. There is nothing to look forward to some of us are affected worse than others some faster than others some not much at all. Myself I use a wheelchair often as I am unable to walk very far and I have a habbit of falling over my own foot but I chose to walk what little I can but know my limints it sounds like your friend knows his as he sits and rest often. Good luck in the relationship and be his support team he needs that most

Darling, I have the very best advice for you... FORGET ABOUT THE MS AND HAVE TONS OF FUN!!! There is no way to know what to expect... For that matter, it is best to not expect problems... Focus on the POSITIVE, remember FAITH NOT FEAR, and HAVE THE TIME OF YOUR LIFE!!!

Ted sounds like, after 15 yrs., he knows what he limitations are, and he seems to do what he needs to do to take care of himself. JUST ENJOY EACH DAY, EACH MOMENT, AND HAVE FUN!!! xoxoxo Cj (Cindyjo)

And Ha haaaa!!!! I am. We are having a great, rich, wonderful time. MS doesn't define him, it's just one of the pain-in-the-butt things that he has to work around. (I have my own baggage too, of a previous mess of a marriage.)

He's 58 and I'm 46.... He should still live for a long, long time, right? We are talking about marriage, and I want him to be with me for a long, long time.

Progressive Relapsing Multiple Sclerosis (PRMS)

Progressive Relapsing Multiple Sclerosis (PRMS) is a rarer form of multiple sclerosis where the disease takes a progressive form from the outset with acute attacks throughout and no relief from accumulated symptoms.

There is plenty of information on the Web about this. Look under Stages of Multiple Sckeroris.

Progressive/Relapsing is the most dreaded MS form, it was known as Marburg MS and demonstrates the need for protracted Steroid therapy, with a high mortality rate.

Darling, make friends with HunterD (Dave) on here... He HAS PPMS, he works, and hunts, and is a great Dad... He is a real dynamo!!! You'd almost never guess he has PPMS... He is always SO POSITIVE!!!

Co, that sounds really rough. Thankfully, Ted has PPMS, not PRMS.

Cindyjo, I'll see if I can figure out how to look him up! (I've never really gone to this kind of site before and am still figuring it out. : ) )
