I've been having alot of trouble sleeping and a general feeling of restlessness especially at night. Im really tired by 8:00/9:00 pm. and ready to go to bed but then i can't sleep. I take ambien and it used to help but i wake up at 4:30 almost everynight and can't go back to sleep, i am not getting enough sleep/rest. My legs do bother me alot, im sure that doesnt' help. Just wondered if sleep disturbances like this is an MS thing or is it something bio-chemical/mental thing going on. Any thoughts?

Bobby is right, but it could also be peri-menopause. I am 44 also and this happens to me as well. My Dr. gave me ativan for those nights and I only take .025 mg.(very small amount). It also relaxes my stiff legs. Lucky us, we get a double whammy!

yes, no doubt could be other things but....... yes an MS thing, if it is not one thing it is another!!!!!!! I too take Ambein and it too usually works, I may get 4, maybe 5 hours from it, Getting a good nights sleep is just not something I do anymore. IT SUCKS!!!!!

Could be a MS symptom, or it could be just related to the stress put on the body from MS. I was an insomniac for 20 years, but this disappeared sometime in the 90's. So for me, sleep is disturbed as a result of a MS symptom or the daily grind of living.

ambien isn't designed to make you sleep thru the night...what i've been told anyways.

when i used it years ago i had the same problem as you and found that over the counter diphenhydramine(sp?) works much better.

as far as script drugs go, i liked lunesta but it left a metallic taste i couldn't handle...

sorry to say that i'm fighting 24/7 to stay awake. loaded iced coffees and adderall barely work anymore.

I was siagnosed by a neuroligist at the MS clinic I was going to as having sleep apnea and RLS. I now take gabapentin and clonezapam. Within 1 hour, I'm sound asleep and I sleep all night.

I havent slept properly for years now I take Oxazepam,, it relaxs me alittle, I only get about three hours a day. I to have the nagging pain in my legs,and my spasms seem to be worse on a night, so if you feel like a chat i am usually on line, i hope you feel better soon. lol..Don.

I was having a horrible time sleeping through the night. I can fall asleep but I dream and wake all night... unless I take my meds. I am on Trazadone at night and it is a GODSEND! I sleep right through.. no grogginess in the morning.
