I got one this summer due to steroids I was taking. I have started taking cranberry pills and it has cleared up. I hadn't gotten one in years, I didn't know that they were more common in people with MS.

Unfortunately uto's are common with ms. I take 20,000iu a day & that helps. I also make sure that I drink plenty of water every day. This is essential as it flushes your system & helps to avoid infections.
The main thing is to keep your system flushed & clean from my understanding.

I think the main reason we can be prone to these things is if we have trouble knowing when we have to void the bladder. Also, I've read that not emptying completely causes some sort of bacteria overgrowth. Making sure you empty your bladder is key. Get some D-Mannose powder. Take a teaspoon full in an 8 oz glass of water and drink it once or twice a day and it will clear up your infection. It could take a week or two if it is severe like you mention but you can avoid antibiotics as this should clear it up for you. Keep an eye on it though and make sure it goes away.

I did this myself when I had caled the urologist. They didn't want to prescribe for me over the phone since I haden't been in for a while. I thought rather than spend $100 to go in there and get a script, I'd give this D-Mannose a try. I take it whenever I feel a little urgency. I've not had a bladder infection for some time now. Love the stuff.

I was on Tasabri and that causes UTI's also. I really don't know the answer, but I know I experience them, not as much as you though. I would be concerned about the frequency of them that you are getting, especially if you are going on antibiotic treatment regime. I have had a kidney infection, but do not know the origin of that infection. I hope you feel better soon.

I drink cranberry juice everyday. And I still have issues but so far I haven't gotten a kidney infection.

This time last year I was getting them every 2 months. I had a terrible one last Oct. that I didn't feel. Within a few days I couldn't walk well. It took several months of intensive PT followed by many additional months of at home work. I can walk 90 - 95% normal again. My Neurologist now has me on a daily Bladder Infection med so I won't get one again.
