I've had four children, all after diagnosis. I had textbook pregnancies, labor, and deliveries. I did everything naturally and nursed them each for roughly 2 yrs. Never had the post-partum relapse. Dr suggested breastfeeding could prolong the protective pregnancy period. I was not on any of the DMDs until after #3, which I quit when I got pregnant with #4. My dr has said pregnancy seems to be the most effective therapy out there. Hopefully you can plan to have someone help when the baby comes so you can rest. I was able to get through it all, but I only recently started having more fatigue. I also didn't worry about keeping the house spotless or making 5 course meals for dinner. In the long run, everyone being happy and cared for was my goal and we all came out fine. Good luck. Oh, I did stay on the Copaxone when I was nursing as well.

I had my baby in march 2009, 8 years after dx.
I had a great pregnancy, for me. And nursed him for 13 months, and have not had a relapse. Of course I think getting enough sleep and keeping stress as low as possible helps with not having a flare.
I have never been on the medications for MS.
I look forward to hearing about all of your pregnancy joys!!!!

Thanks to everyone who posted a reply. This makes me feel a little less aprehensive. I'm still not TOTALLY positive that I am pregnant, but, it's really early and i've taken 3 tests, 2 show negative and one shows a tiny faint mark in the positive... so I'll keep y'all posted! thanks for the comments and sharing your stories!

Your fears are entirely misplaced. Do some research. Pregnancy gives one a "holiday" from MS. In fact, researchers are looking into it for potential treatments. From my perspective, that's all well and grand, but I cannot get pregnant.
