The first year with a baby was very tough. I did not have a support system at all and all the sleepless nights on top of the already fatigue was a killer.
I would still recommend doing it. What I have read suggests that MS goes into remission during pregnancy.
My little boy is the best thing I ever did with my life.
Best of luck.
After having my first two, I had my most significant relapses. It was challenging, because I had little help from family. When I got pregnant with the third, I planned ahead to get as much help as possible. We hired a post-partum doula to help with baby and our other kids, so I could sleep in the early days. No relapse and the baby is 7 months old now. I have read that how you are doing prior to pregnancy can be an indicator of how you will do after. I found this to be true. Before having our sweet baby #3, I was doing much better than before having the other 2.
So, I would say:
1) Have a good supportive doctor/practioner
2) Plan for help- even mothers without MS benefit from extra help after having a baby.
3) Make sleep a huge priority.
4) Be as healthy as possible before pregnancy
5) Take over-all inventory on your support, health, course of MS so far etc. before deciding
Having Children has been a huge blessing! In case you wondered, I had 2 C-sections and a VBAC-natural delivery (2nd one) and nursed all of my children. Let me know if you have any more questions. Woman with MS can defintely have children, of course, it is always a personal decision. I wish you the best in making that decsion when the time comes!
I'm feeling a lot more at ease
