I too suffer from ADD with MS. Both of my kids suffer from ADHD. When I first heard of the condition, I started reading all kinds of books about it and realized that this was ME! ADD/ADHA is hereditary!

I think your doctor is right on with starting a regime of Ritalin. I think it might help your fatigue problem on the MS front. There are a lot of people that take Adderall as a stimulant for fatigue with MS. I took a non-stimulant ADD medication, wishing I had a stimulant to help fight the fatigue. I take narcotics for pain management so my doctor will not prescribe stimulants too.

I do not have add but I was prescribed ritalin for fatigue. It did absolutely nothing for the fatigue. The prescribing controls on ritalin and adderal are going to be even more tightly controlled.

Just a heads up as I am hearing this via people who work for the doctors who prescribe them. And those in the State legislature. There has been a big jump in the percentage of people who abuse them. Just makes life peachier for those who need pain meds, or AADd meds - they will be even harder to access.

I know I'm ADD and need meds but I don't think my Neuro is big on the idea.. I need to see someone else and be dx... But when you're under the care of a Neuro other doctors don't like to get tangled up with you for some reason.

yep, I was dx with ADD a few years ago as well. I have taken Adderol in the past and it really helped when I was working and had to get focussed tasks completed. I didn't get much of a relief for fatigue symptoms though. It is a controlled substance which means that I had to get a paper script from my dr. every month. It did help with my mental clarity.
I know that it can really be a struggle for some folks to get dialed in with meds. Keeping the balance can be tough as well. Good luck.
