Hi all,
Having my MRI tests on this tuesday. The referral sheet lists, "Mri Brain, MS protocol" and Mri, Spine, MS protocol". So I talked with one of the schedulers and she asked me if I were getting any of the rest of my spine done. I told her I thought I was getting all of it done. She said that the meaning of "MRi, spine, MS protocol" only meant the "cervical spine". I asked her if people with MS could get lesions on other parts of the spine and she said she really did not know.
Well, my doc is off on Monday. My tests are at 9:30am on Tues and I have to be there by 9:15. The phones start at his office at 9:00am. I will have to leave home before that to make the 9:15 appt. What should I do? Is it OK that it is only the "cervical spine"? Or should it be the whole spine? I do have lots of problems with my spine and have been dxed with Myalgia and myositis of the areas around my spine. The swelling NEVER goes down. I just figured it would be a good thing to get the MRI for my spine so that I could find out what else might be going on with it.
Should I leave it alone since those were the only two MRI listings for "MS protocols?" Should I say something and see if the staff will call my docs office as soon as it opens and see if they will authorize my whole spine? Is it necessary for the MS? All I really do care about at this time would be the MS aspect. I can wait on the full spine if need be.
**********What do you guys advice?************(gotta run my 12 yo son sets his alarm clock for 7:45 am on Sat. so he can get in here and start playing games before his 14 yo brother who likes to sleep late.....it has now been ringing for almost 45 minutes...WITH HIS DOOR SHUT!!!....and its DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!!) 8#O...(thats me going crazy!!!) luv ya guys!!! .... When you check in Tuesday morning ask the technician if they can call your doctor and have him order the rest. It will take a good while for them to do the brain and complete spine, especially if they are doing it with and without contrast, so be prepared to spend some time in the tube. (Mine took over 3 hours!)

But I would ask the techs where you are going when you get there. I would mention your concerns, because they can contact someone at the office when you can not. Many times they have another number that we as patients don't always have.
