MRI - pain

Hi, I had a spinal mri on Saturday afternoon & it was really
uncomfortable/painful. The whole time I was in the machine my spine felt like it
was on fire & I was getting constant zapping/tingles down my left side, leg &
arm & both feet were burning & numb when I went to stand up. Fun driving home
but I gradually got feeling back in right foot.
I had the same tingling when I had my last head mri too.
My neurologist didnt seem concerned when I told him. I dont see him till May to
get the results although I have got the films & there are 10 sheets of film.
Do others have this when they have a mri? I never used to get any pain other
than headache. Since my last flare in feb I have as well as other crap which
wont go away.

Spine MRI's are time consuming and uncomfortable for me. I didn't have any spine lesions & it was still uncomfortable.

Last head MRI, a few months ago. The back right side of my head hurt, each time the table moved into the MRI. I hadn't experienced that before? It was not so painful that I complained or asked them to stop doing the scan.

When I got the CD of the scan, there was an obvious active lesion there..in the right side occipital lobe, back of the brain. I had been tired, but I didn't think it was a relapse. The doc confirmed the active lesion and changed my meds...

There was only 1 active lesion in that MRI that was painful. When I was diagnosed there were a lot of active lesion & I don't remember pain in the MRI from that. Maybe I was just distracted because that was a first MRI for me? And now its not so new. I'm not as distracted and I notice it.. I don't know if active lesions cause pain or sensation exaggeration in the MRI?

It will be interesting for me to hear if you had a new active lesion on your spine. Let me know. Thanks.

Thanks for your response. I have had many head mri's without problems though had some zaps last one but this time was a lot more painful & the effects lasted.
I dont know how to read the scan but there are lots of photos of a white spot so I am thinking it is possibly a lesion or 2.
Will find out next month.

i've never experienced any such thing during s C-spine or T-spine MRI. I doubt the MRI would cause it, but I guess you never know.

I have never had any pain from a MRI but I am never awake. The machine FREAKS ME OUT. I had a panic attack the first time so have been asleep for the next 3 I have had.

I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper?
