I think it means International Unit...I've never seen it on a perscription bottle (yet), just on vitamin bottles. Here's the definition:
*the amount of a substance, such as a drug, hormone, vitamin, enzyme, etc., that produces a specific effect as defined by an international body and accepted internationally;
I think it's equal to 1 mg (milligram)...
And I can never spell the word 'gauge' right either!

My dr's office said I was "extremely low", so, I guess they mean it!
So, I am to only take the pill once a week. for a few months! wow!
