I think this is a complicated question. I don't see anything about Multiple Sclerosis causing a hormone issue; however, there seem to be a number of studies related to using hormones to help in some way. My big concern relating to hormones is that the supposed disease modifying drugs not only suppress the immune system but also suppress the hormones. It's all in the fine print. For this reason, I've been resisting going back on a med but am seeing an MS specialist soon to discuss the situation.

I have hyporthyroidism or low thyroid hormone. Not sure if its from the MS, Avonex, or netither. I have been taking medication Synthroid for for this condition for the last five years or so. It has't been a big deal since I get no side effects from Synrhroid and my level of thyroxin (thyroid hormone) has been corrected

I would never go on synthetic thyroid hormone aka synthroid.

Armour (T4 + T3) and cytomel (T3) are the bio-identical hormone counter parts that are better.

I haven't studied the various hormone replacement therapies out there. I just take what my doctor prescribes for me. I haven't had any problems with synthroid. It has worked for me. Something to look into though. Thanks for the suggestion.
