My husband & I got life insurance before Bering dx. We probably, in good concourse should tell them, but I'm concerned the premium will go up.

Hey Chrissy I have it too, which I got before the dx but I'm thinking of getting additional. I was in my 20's when I got it and it was only meant as a starter policy and had always planned to get more once I got settled. Time slips away and 20 years later... I don't plan on updating them on my existing policy but I'm curious of what will happen if I apply for more now.

CW- there are policies that don't require a physical or letting them know about a pre-existing condition. I don't recall their names, but their policies r more expensive. There is one policy I found that doesn't charge a higher amount, but u have to be 65 or older. I wish I could have been more helpful.

My life insurance was 4x what it was supposed to be. I found a different carrier and they were a little over 2x - that was with the agent we have several cars and our house insured with. Mine may have been higher due to taking two years of Novantrone treatments..

I haven't been here in quite a while but this is my experience with life insurance.

15 years ago, I got a term $250,000.00 life insurance policy. Fast forward 13 years and a MS diagnosis. When I called my insurance agent about adding life insurance after the time lapse and told him about my current medical condition, he said ahh, I'll get back to you. 2nd and third call, got the same response.

Don't know about the life insurance but nursing home insurance........ forget it... no one will touch you once you have MS which means unless you plan on going with your significant other, get a divorce.

I have existing policies, we are trying to up our life cover as we have a special needs child and need to ensure that she is taken care of once we are no longer on this realm. My husband's went fine, but with MS they are loading my policy 250%. Not fare as I am concerned as MS does not directly affect your lifespan.

I had a horrible experience trying to get life insurance. On the outside I "look" very healthy. When the agent started asking questions and found out that I had MS. He refuse coverage for me. Like he was going to catch what I have. It upset me very much. If you have coverage now, do not let it go. Keep it no matter what.
