So, yes, it sucks and it isn't fair, and it's even worse to get other diagnosis on top of the stupid MS. Remember that it is we who are chosen for a particular task, and more than likely, this is part of it.....
Before I do, let me just say - lest anyone think I think otherwise - MS SUCKS ... BIG FECKIN TIME. I hate it, no - stronger than that, I DETEST it, I loathe it, it is my ENEMY. I battle it every second of every day. So with that in mind, I ask you..
Do you have a bed to call your own in which to go to sleep in every night? If so, you are better off than many many people in this world who through whatever circumstances don't .. be it Katrina, the recent London riots where people were burnt out of their homes, Fukushima - the recent Japanese nuclear disaster and accompanying tsunami, or just sheer poverty and homelessness.
Are your pets (those who have them) well and healthy? If so, think of those people who have just had - or will have to - have their beloved furbabies put to sleep because of some incurable illness.
Have you food to eat? A roof over your head? Healthy spouses/loved ones? Do you have your freedom and liberty? Are you free from persecution, warfare, gov't repression? Can you make it through a day without someone having to wipe your ass for you because you are unable to do it for yourself?
If the answer to these questions is yes then believe it or not, even with this sodden bitchin motherload of diseases, you are blessed - and dare I say more fortunate than many.
When I think about how much I've lost, about how I am not even a shadow-more like a distant memory-of who I once was, I remind myself that despite it all, just how fortunate I am.
Please don't think I'm being sanctimonious or holier than thou, I'm not. Rather I'm trying to share some of my strength with my MS bedfellows in the hope of shedding some light on what can be a very dark place we all inhabit one time or another.
How about the union worker that is the only provider for the family and social security is denying the spouse disability with a lie. The union worker is about to strike because of no cost of living raise in five years, higher co-pays, furlough days that equal 3 weeks wages, another 5% out of pocket for healthcare for the family on top of what they are paying now, more programs and duties at work and an overall cut in salary of 10.6%. This union worker makes less than the federal poverty level at just under 26,000/year and has medical debt that equals not than 1 years salary. How about the teacher whose husband lost his job making 80k per year. They were lucky they didn't buy the house the month before, they needed the money to live on and pay their school loans and eat for the next 14 months he was seeking work. He would still be a salesman if they would have kept him working since he was the senior employee but the new guy was making less money so they kept him and didn't offer him benefits. The teacher was also getting her masters degree at the same time of the spouses job loss so she could step up to 32k/year. Thank god for the union, otherwise the union worker would already have lost 10.6% of their wages. This would have made it difficult to pay for pre-school, new school clothes, tonsils to be taken out due to ongoing illnesses
And various other expenses at school such as field trips and snack days. I just want you to see it from the other side, you have every right to take your frustrations out on who ever you like, but keep in mind, their are teachers and union workers on DS that might take it personal. My dad is getting a pension of over 400/month from a company he was laid off from in 1981. Nothing wrong with unions except for they are disappearing.
God bless, I hope you get to feeling better!
Kevin
I deal with it by recognizing I know it could be much worse and then it again could be much better. I work hard to not let it rule my life.
It's not easy.

Brain tumors are kind of like the reciprocal of sex. There is no such thing as bad sex, only some a little better than others. There is no such thing as a good brain tumor, only some are a little worse than others.
