That was tried as an alternative treatment for cancer years ago. Something about cyanide in the pit of a peach if my memory is right. Sorry to say but I just remember it being a big negative, Surprised a nurse would be taking it - even more surprised she would discuss this with a patient.

Who knows? Maybe something new.. A lot of nurses come down with MS for unknown reasons.

I heard about it in the 1970s. It was basically considered a quack. I just found an article about laetrile at the website,

Be careful about laetrile. I know of no known value of this drug. There are a lot of snake oils disguised as a cure or whatever for MS.

That was a really lengthy article ezone, enough that when I got through a significant amount of it, determined that this "therapy" doesn't deserve to be considered a therapy for MS! Wow, people will sell anything. And, I agree with Melanie - why on earth is this nurse toting this "therapy" to your husband? I wouldn't give this a second thought.

The nurse's mother is using it not the nurse herself. She spoke quite highly of it but I had never heard of it for MS just cancer years ago.

dxat59, don't let me discourage you from bringing new ideas up. Sometimes, those long shots are well worth talking about. So continue to bring them up.

Perhaps the nurse's mother is doing well and just happens to be taking laetrile. I just hope that she is isn't spending a lot of money on it. That is the main thing.

But thanks for asking. I want to encourage you to continue bringing up alternative things because there might lie the answer to MS. Who knows!!

Personally, I thought that stuff was dead and gone a long time ago but I told my husband I would check with you guys and do some research myself and that satisfied his curiosity. I too was surprised that a nurse would promote that stuff or let her Mom take it. She must be at the point where nothing else works and this is a last ditch effort. Thanks for the input guys!
