I had L'Hermittes Sign for about 8 months before I started to notice it calming down.

it's been about a year and 3 months since it first started and, though it isn't constant anymore, it is still there. If I stretch my neck by putting my chin down the zing is very very mild but it's still there. on bad days when my old stuff is acting up it's pretty obvious buy nothing like when it first started. i had to wear a neck brace for about 6 weeks because the zings were so painful at first.

Hi sherizi, I had a relapse that was pretty bad in 05' that made me numb from the waist down for several months. I had the L'hermittes sign for a while after that. I can't remember how long it took for it to go away, but it did go away. I went years without having it. I just started having L'hermittes again with the recent relapse I have just had. So I'm not sure how long you will have to deal with it, but I think eventually you will get a break from it, like I did.

My first relapse was L'Hermittes (among other symptoms). It was bad for about two months, then slowly (very slowly) subsided over about 4-5 months. Probably a year later I still had the feelings in my feet after a strong workout or if I was tired, but wore off after a while.
Hang in there. It'll improve, especially if you've had steroids?

I read all your replies in this post....I am doing my best not to cry. I SOOO hope you find relief soon.

I had l'hermittes with my first relapse last year, and it lasted 4 months or so in earnest .. it went away gradually after that. I hope you find relief soon, it's so annoying!

Mine 'flares' at will - but usually subsides fairly quickly - just such a strange sensation?!

Hi sherizi. I actually had L'Hermittes some 9 years before I was diagnosed with MS. It lasted approx 18 months. Drove me nuts. It was definitely scary at first. Not knowing what the hell was going on. When it first started it was an intense electrical sensation. Then it calmed a bit and became a rush of heat. I was tested at that time for MS, but it was inconclusive. I wasn't "officially" diagnosed for another 9 years.
I wondered as I had L'Hermittes it if it was going to last forever. Then one day it just went away. Yea!!! Now I only seem to get it every now and then only only on very bad symptom days now. It goes away usually the next day or when my bad symptoms go away.

Hi Sherizi - that was my first recognizable symptom of MS and lead to my diagnosis... it started in 2005, and after about 8 months it started to be less. I still can feel it if I really bend my neck down. However, I found the electrical 'zooming' actually helped with my pain from rheumatoid arthritis - sort of acted like an internal TENS machine (the electrical stimulation machine they use for acute pain). So I might be a little crazy, but felt a lot of painrelief along with the zooming, so I almost felt good to have it!

I got this a lot when I was first diagnosed in 1987. At the time it was felt a lot. Now, all these years later, I can say that I haven't felt it since the 80s. So take heart! Could go the way of the doodo bird for you too!
