When he would take me anywhere and if any one said anything he would ask them if you could see cancer from the outside so you can't see MS either.
Police very seldom, ask people for proof here. If they do there is paperwork that comes with the placard to show proof.
You have every legal right to your placard, as my husband would tell me , you have to grow thicker skin!
Since then, I've been doing a lot of 'lurking' on Multiple Sclerosis Memes in FB and found a poster that I will, eventually, put onto a business-type card that says "I'll trade you my parking tag and my MS for your ignorance. I could use the break and you could use the lesson." Heh... even if I don't get around to doing it, it's something to keep in the back of my mind to 'snark' at those people who like to pass and give nasty looks.
...then again, on a bad day I'm mean. LOL
*hugs* Please keep well
Don't worry what people will think. I have had my handicap parking for several years now, and nobody has ever said anything to me. I haven't noticed if anyone has "looked" at me either. It only matters that you are taking care of yourself and making your life easier. I'm sorry, but for people with disabilities, I say be in it for "me" when it comes to available benefits.
The Spanish government has been very ungenerous with recognising disability since the crisis. I have asked to be reevaluated. When I go, I will have to exaggerate symptoms (like everyone else here) and I have decided to borrow/rent a wheelchair to play it up. I hate the idea, but the original examining doctor said to me, many people with MS only have 'temporary' disability (RRMS).
Older people used to give me a hard time when I used the diabled seats on the bus, so I stopped hiding my cane in my backpack so I could justify sitting there. But even so, I still got occasional criticism from the grumpier old men. With the cane, at least others would come to my defense.
Good luck!
I was horribly embarresed long ago after PEOPLE SAID that "You just DON'T LOOK like you need to WASTE THAT SPOT so a real DESERING Disabled person could use THAT spot!!!"
THEY JUST DON'T and SADLY NEVER WILL UNDERSTAND!!
I have had it SAID TO ME THIS YEAR that "There ARE OTHERS worse off than YOU ARE!!!!!"
I'm Sorry that IS life, but I AM HERE THIS MINUET I NEED THIS SPOT RIGHT NOW NOTHING STOPS HOW I FEEL MYSELF!!!
I'm sorry but a person with MS reallly NEEDS to just IGNORE LIFE A LOT!!
