However, your case may be different.
I've had some (note the word "some") help with the drug Nuvigil. I started out at 150 mg. a day and it was really intense at first. Well, that rather quickly wore off and now I'm at the 250 mg. level, I per day. It seems to help to a point but it not a complete answer for the fatigue.
If you have insurance maybe you can try to get some of this? It might help.
I wish you the best! Hang in there!
Along with cognitive impairment, fatigue is a primary cause of early departure from the workforce, so effective fatigue management needs to be high on everyone's priority list from the get go. T he good news is that there are strategies to help you deal with whatever level of fatigue your experiencing.
Taking nuvigil/provigil is one idea as has been suggested. I know others also rely upon adderall and retalin too. Please talk to your doctor and find a solution to help you deal with this fatigue. I know it is horrible and you are not alone.
There is a book that I purchased when I first got my DX of MS, MS for Dummies. It really is a great book and covers so much about MS in easy, understandable terms for the reader. I use it all the time as a reference book. Try Amazon and maybe you can buy a used copy of it. I know I wouldn't sell my copy for the world, but I did buy mine used so good luck!
Also, speaking of cognitive function, I made a huge mistake earlier this year. It almost cost the company 3 million dollars. I got put on final written warning. It was the first time in my 7 years here that I've ever done anything like that and it was a really blatant mistake. I hope I can keep it together and not do anything like that again or I will lose my job. Anyway, sorry for hijacking your post!!!
Hope things improve for you soon or you are able to figure out a solution that works for you.
I can sleep for 6-8 hours and wake up feeling like I haven't slept for three days. That's why I set my alarm in the morning for 4:30 am. It takes me a while to get my body moving mentally and physically.
I don't know what to do about it. I've been told that I should exercise more and I agree, but the fatigue exhausts me and it is a huge demotivator.
Has anyone gone to their Dr. before and just asked for some time off work (a few weeks) so they can rest, and recoop?
I was diagnosed and my symptoms were invisible when I was still working but I got disability because of fatigue, would you believe.
My neuro doc was so good that he believed that fatigue was enough of a factor to keep people from working that he put me on disability. Of course, I was dx with MS. That helped a lot. They had a policy that said we couldn't get disability if we just generally felt fatigue or was out of it. So, having a diagnosis is key.
I really hope that you can get a diagnosis SOON.
