I am suppose to go see my neuro next month, I have not seen him since May 08, anyway I was attmepting to schedule my mri and appointment due to work schedules etc. My doctors nurse called me and told me that I would have to come in and see him first and then return for MRI as insurance is now causing drama about patients not being seen before MRI. Do you all go on different days for MRI and appoitment with neurologist. I personally find this to be very inconvient for a person who is working.
There weren't any new active lesions, there were some new old lesions but he wasn't gonna change my med based on that so he didn't see a need to have anothe office appointment.
I had another appointment were the doc ordered another MRI and I got my CD again. This time the doc office called me to schedule an appointment right away. This MRI had a new lesion and the doc did want me to switch medication...to Tysabri. At the appointment she instructed me to stop betaseron for 30 days and start Tysabri at the end of the 30 days....
The reason I am telling you this, when you go to the appointment the insurance company now requires you have...ask how you will find out the results and what the results mean.
It the old way of if you don't here from us its ok. Well that's not ok anymore. This is an expensive test and I want to know what the results are & what they mean!!! Get that reslved at your appointment. Its gonna cost insurance 2 appointments when it could have been 1. And ask for a CD of your MRI, I'm glad I did.
I work full time, so I understand that it's hard to have all this time off for MRIs and Drs appointments. There are a lot of MRI places that have evening and even Saturday hours. Check around, as that may help you!
