Yesterday I feel and I tried to pick myself off the ground but I couldn't do it. I feel at the front door and managed to scoot to my bedroom to get the phone so I could call 911 to get help to pick me up.
In my head I don't have difficulty walking. In my head I don't have arm crutches. In my head I don't have a leg brace to help my drop foot. In my head I'm still dance teacher and student. Then I fall and I have to call 911 so I can get up off the floor.
The one good thing is that it made me realize I need to keep doing my physical therapy exercises. That is when I hat having MS normally it doesn't phase me.

Usually I get a daily influx of emails on health topics. An article from Dr. Mercola really stood out recently though because it mentioned that fat cells have their own mitochondria. Not only was this the first I'd heard of this, he also mentioned that fat serves a purpose in our metabolism. Another new factoid for me. The bottom line for me was to appreciate that even our fat cells play a...

I just do not feel well and I really think that it's because I cried yesterday on my way to work about my Aunt who is in the hospital. I don't think that we will have her much longer. She is very frail. Now she needs help eating. So, this is the third time in a year that I felt this way after crying. I think crying releases toxins into my body. I also worked up a sweat at the gym...

I suppose I would be in a scooter if I didn't have it.
I'm just assuming that this time it was NOT while you were in the shower at 3am? That was the ONLY time I fell when I was up alone at my apt. and thought about maybe needing to call for help. But how on earth could I reach the phone anyhow?? When I got out of the shower, I'll just need an hour or 3 to get to feeling human again...
Exercise and Cell Phone.
The boat leaves at 6pm and I was there with my friend from the college who goes on them for the past 4 years with me. She drove all the way (70 miles) from her house to Boothbay to have a fun easy time like we uselly have! We got down there at 4:45pm, picked up the tickets, that I paid for cause I'M the UMA Alumni! But being SOOOO MUCH HEAT AND HUMIDITY my legs stopped working for me HALFWAY down that ramp to get on the boat!
I fell down cause obviously of the humidity and heat is just tourture! That friend of mine actually called 911 to have a couple of EMTs stop down and pick me up cause my legs were DEAD to me.
She actualy works in the hospitol up in Bangor and has heard people calling 911 when they ran out of asprins and couldn't get them till a few more hours, another of a person who couldn't sleep at 2am and THIS was more of an emergency than THOSE ones are! They will send EMTs to help! A person doesn't need blood gushing out to NEED 911!
After I kept tellin her that "No, I'm OK, just too hot, the ramp doesn't need to be clear till 9pm when the boat gets back, I'm not bleeding, nothins broken don't bother anyone..."
When a few of them showed up, they did get me up and onto a transport chair to get me up and into her minivan.
Holy cow is it sweet to be up off the slanting down ramp! I know ramps are hard for me to walk on, but this one was 11 or 12 feet LONGER than the preivious years! Who'd know Pier 1 was THAT much worse than Pier 6 and 7?!?!?!?! And why does everyone think a ramp is good for disabled people?? They are ONLY is your in a wheelchair!!!
I understand what you are saying about being "in your head". In my head I don't have MS either, and I'm still thin. Hang in there!
I use a mobility scooter out in my yard any longer and it allows me the freedom to continue to garden when I am well enough to do so.
Gentle ((hugs)) shared.
The FUCKIN chairs here are ALLLLLL LEATHER! So a person CANNOT GRAB ANYWHERE to get themselves up on them!!!!
BUT NOOOOOOOOOO that JACKASS fatha of mine buys them from MARDEN'S cause the ORIGINAL PRICE at any furniture store is WAY higher than what Marden's has em for! Even though EVERYONE SAID years ago that the leather sucks cause you stick to it! It's too slippery to have stuff stay on it when it's put there. Is wayyyyyyyyy too cold in the winter!! It just SUCKS we don't want that shit! But noo none of that EVEA matters when you SEE HOW MUCH YOUR SAVING; BUYIN IT THERE! Man what a jackass!!
So ofcourse now that my legs are totally numb from whatEVEA reason and I'm here with the internet/ tryin to help Mum get crap cleaned here!! I fall and CANNOT get up!
Then Mum starts with her bullshit of how I gotta stop bein up in Bangor UNLESS I move into a disability house!! SEE YOU CAN'T LIVE BY YOURSELF! YOU CAN'T EVEN GET UP!!!
Now like I don't feel bad enough ALREADY!! Why she thinks it's cool/ good to punch me when I'm down!!
Man life sucks sometimes! The guy that got here first (cause they sent 3 people, who not a single one looked like they would be OK to just pick ME up! (the scale says I'm 262 pounds)!) actually picked me up from behind! In 4 seconds!! It was really pretty cool!! He REALLY was NOT a big guy! Neither guy was! That first guy said that I was not heavy even!
Nice stuff like that to try and calm someone I figure and the other guy said I HAVE TO promise to call them BEFORE 2 hours go by!!"
I always figure calling them ONLY if I broke a bone, couldn't stop the blood gushing or something drastic.
Regarding falling? I wear a medical alert bracelet. And I've had to use it....it's something to consider especially if you live alone.
