I personally don't respond to a statement like that for reasons that belong to me. It's not that I don't care it's just not usually understood by people in general.
I really think your statements are rather harsh. You have no idea who responded in private.
I honeslty didn't see that as a cry for help i saw it as a blunt response. A truthful one.
You've obviously never spent the night curled up on your bathroom floor trying to figure out if you should just get it over with already.
When I was feeling low many people responded to me with private messages, hugs etc.
There have often been times when i wished I could go to sleep and never wake up. I think it happens alot with MS people.
Instead of knocking each other down and making them feel bad about themselves we try to hold people up and make them feel better.
People here live with alot of burdens.
I am glad you felt compelled to do something about the post, (which I did not see).
The sweet people here do not need a guilt trip put on them either.
SOMETIMES ITS BETTER TO CONSIDER THE SIMPLE THINGS FIRST BEFORE JUMPING INTO THE MOST DRAMATIC (IE...SUICIDE)...
Once in awhile it has flitted through my head that it wouldn't be so bad to go to sleep and not wake up. I don't consider it a call for suicide, I consider it just a fleeting thought.
So good for you, reach out to that person. But not on the forum, send them a message. Hopefully you got things all wrong. If not, maybe you made a difference.
But, please leave it up to each individual whether or not they want or need to do the same. We do care about eath other, believe it or not.
This person was reaching out for help and I'm sure they got it privately. This isn't a back and forth topic you broadcast all over a public discussion board.
Don't judge what you do not know what others have done for this person in private.
