As I write this, my right foot is 'seizing up' like it is in a major Charlie Horse. For a couple of minutes I couldn't bend my toes--they were locked in position. Now they're curling and uncurling painfully. Then the left foot did the same thing. Right now, the left is calm but the right is still really stiff and if I move the wrong way, it will lock up on me again. Has anyone out there experienced this or know what the heck it is? I believe it's related to muscles and nerves? It's the craziest (and rather painful I might add) thing and is more than the average 'Charlie Horse' I've experienced every now and again in the past.

I'm on steroids for another medical condition and these have been keeping the MS at bay. Is this MS? Maybe something else? Inquiring minds want to know!

I have experienced this or rather something similar where my foot with start curving inward and toes go haywire, I have experienced this well before the ms, but in I do think it is related. I usually rub the foot and attempt to work the issue out by attempting to move the foot on the floor.

Right--top of foot curves and toes go haywire--that's exactly it. Now they're both settled down and okay again. It was so odd, though. All of a sudden the right and then both feet just went kind of nuts. Hopefully someone else might know what this is. Thanks!

I have never had issues with my feet, but issues with my legs got me DX'd. My issues were the result of a spinal lesion at T-3. Food for thought.................

Yes.
The first time it happened it freaked me out. I was taking a shower and put my foot up on the seat to wash it and the same thing happened.
Like my toes just stood up in the air and stayed there. When they "calmed" down, I thought, they curled under and stayed there.
Then it started happening in bed and my legs started feeling weird.
My Neuro. put me on Mirapex and it hasn't happened for about 6 months now.
He never said what it was, just shook his head like he knew.
Spasticity? (spelling)

I have dealt with this (quite often)...I have also had issues where my feet will just start shaking like crazy...or maybe even jumping lightly. Also I tend to tighten up if I put any pressure ... like when I go to a restaurant buffet and by the time I get my plate to the table I literally have to "rub" and work out my hand to get it back to normal. Oh the joys of M.S......

i experience this, especially toes curling under sometimes, but when i was in college i worked part time for a podiatrist and i rememered him saying to patients when you get out of bed put shoes on and don't take them off til you get back in bed.its annoying but it works for me. it only happens rarely now.

I don't experience that with my feet, but I do in my neck. It come with neck pain, and then my neck will just seize up. I've had it in my right leg too. I don't know if it's MS or arthritis.
I use a moist heat on the areas when they get bad.
And also take Ibuprophen if needed.
Hard to figure out sometimes, as to what's MS and what is'nt.

I get this all the time. It's extremely painful. I've been able to sense when it's starting so i can shuffle my foot and spare myself. It hasn't gone into a full curl in a while because of that.

I experience this a couple times a week.

The cure when this happens...... 2 joints.

I have had this before and it is usally after I have been on my feet for a while. If I rest it goes away....Good luck hope it gets better.

I get this all the time. It's like my feet are cramping up and it hurts like heck...putting my feet firmly on the floor helps.

Thanks everyone! I wonder what the difference is (if there is one) between the condition I described and a Charlie horse? Maybe the 'locking up' of the toes? The duration? I'll ask the neuro. next time I see him.
