Hello Everyone!
My name is Dayna and I am 34. I was diagnosed July 2nd of this year when I was hospitilized with numbness all over my body and my right leg was paralyzed. I would try to walk and just bite the floor! I had to go on an 6 day SM iv and regained my ability to walk and was released. At home recovering and tapering off the oral steroid I was hit with optic neuritis in both eyes and the whole right side of my face went numb and my right hand. I had to go on another round of SM for 7 days which about killed me!! It threw me into total despair and depression!
I'm doing better now, thanks to the help of Lexapro, klonopin, and Ambien. I also have panic and anxiety disorder which makes MS extra "special" to deal with! I was put on Betaseron shots which I think I bragged too much at the beginning about taking it well, cause now my hair is falling out, my body looks like I've been chased down with a bee bee gun, and I pretty much feel like ass every other day. But my eyes and numbness are better! Whoo Hoo!
Apparently my first MRI lit up like a Christmas tree! I have several lesions, well I like to call them "beauty marks" Lesion just sounds so YUCK, on my brain, brainstem, and spine. Oh yes, my CNS is decorated up beautifully!
I have been going crazy staying home all the time, I worked at a bank FT and unfortunately was unable to make my Family Medical Leave deadline having to have the second treatment. I filed for disability and will hopefully eventually get it. I was able to go on my husbands insurance which helps, but otherwise we are going into financial ruin in a hurry with just his income! Boy when MS hits it makes sure to cover and screw up all basis of your life!!
I have to have a new brain and spine MRI done next week to make sure there are no new beauty marks and hopefully they are staying calm and not having a pagent in there!! I have a follow up with my neuro the next day, I had a blood draw yesterday and have to get a flu shot tomorrow. Just call me Pin Cushion Girl!!! You get to do all kinds of fun things having this disease!! My neuro says if the Betaseron isn't doing the trick then he wants to try Tysabri which scares me!!
Anyway, sorry so long, I just wanted to introduce myself to the group and gain some friends. I try to keep the humor and my husband is great and very supportive. I also would not make it if I didn't have my 6 cats they are my thearpists, and they work very cheap! Food, Love, and Laps!!! I would love to hear from others that are with me in this crazy MS life! You can really feel alone and scared when your whole worlds turned upside down!!
Take Care Everyone!!

Glad you found the site, I have learned alot from the good people here.
Your positive attitude is ray of sunshine in a blurry world !!
I know all of the paperwork/insurance part can drive you crazy muchless the part where you don't have a paycheck coming in, so hang in there. I hope you get things worked out soon.
I also hope you don't have any new "beauty marks" when you go for the mri's. Thanks for the tip about using your cats as therapy, I'll have to try that! lol
