Normally the heat has not bothered me, Im one of the few that COLD bothers my MS worse than the heat. But it seems this is beginning to change for me, since ive noticed a difference the last 2 summers. . It is going to be 90 degrees today, its 80 now, and my legs are beginning to ache real bad. What is it about the heat? or is it the humidity that bothers MS? I never can get a straight answer from my doctor. ANybody got any thoughts on this?

Usually I get a daily influx of emails on health topics. An article from Dr. Mercola really stood out recently though because it mentioned that fat cells have their own mitochondria. Not only was this the first I'd heard of this, he also mentioned that fat serves a purpose in our metabolism. Another new factoid for me. The bottom line for me was to appreciate that even our fat cells play a...

I just do not feel well and I really think that it's because I cried yesterday on my way to work about my Aunt who is in the hospital. I don't think that we will have her much longer. She is very frail. Now she needs help eating. So, this is the third time in a year that I felt this way after crying. I think crying releases toxins into my body. I also worked up a sweat at the gym...

mid 70's is a perfect temp for me, now if I can just get control of that "climate" control knob...
MS Sucks
Attitude is Everything
Ive heard that heat really bothers people with MS. Me, just heat plus humidity bothers me, hard to walk then.
I did not appear to do that well in humidity also?
Then I read that humidity negatively affects the body from cooling itself...then I understood the relationship between MS, heat ,humidity and the a/c goes on with out any guilt for BOTH Heat OR Humidity.
So it is BOTH thats the answer. And that is why its both. It both when it is an or Heat OR humidityu and it is especially when it is an AND heat AND humidity.
But an OR condition starts the a/c.

After the last 2 winters in NY I packed it in and moved down to Florida... from the ice box to the frying pan. Now I'll see if heat is better to me than the cold wasn't
Ever stand in the shower before regulating the water temp well and either the too cold or the too hot makes your legs want to just buckle? That explains a lot to me. The extremes are tough on me. Of course, I'm careful to regulate the darn water, but sometimes I get impatient. Can't do that much though, or I'll slip in the tub.
When I went to Buffalo in October,I was able to climb stairs (everyone seems to have stairs in my family (except the senior apartments where my gram lives). I felt like a changed woman when I got home. And as soon as I woke up here in Florida, I felt like the life had been sucked right out of me. I wondered if it was all psychological but I think feeling hit that hard really has to be a physical thing.
Stress seems to play major havoc on our bodies and it comes in so many forms, trying ot walk, trying to avoid drop foot, trying to concentrate with all of the physical challenges that are upon us at all times.
Getting our brains and muscles moving is supposed to help so much but it is such hard work.... I'm really hoping to improve my condition and wish I could focus better on my health... I seem to get distracted a lot. Oh well, nobody said MS was easy, let alone regular life, lol.
