As for me, I've slipped through the cracks.
My family (sans one brother) is all dead and gone.
I guess I could feel sorry for myself but over the years I've found (esp. after The Trip from Hell) that I am perhaps my own best company.
If it comes down to it, I can always go live elsewhere which is an option that I have that few have in the USA.
I try not to think about it because there is not much I can do about this reality.
So, I go on anyway and try my best not to think too much about it as there isn't a whole lot I can do to change things for my husband nor me. :(
Like your plan. I quite smoking in '92 but if I found out I was a short timer would go get a pack of Marlboros and a bottle of Jack Daniels. Mine is more the PPMS type without remissions. Frankly, I'm kind of jealous of those with remissions. I keep a picture of a cabin in Alaska on my desk to go go. It is not mine but is a good fantasy.
There are places, like "Advent Christian Village in Florida" http://www.bing.com/search?q=advent+christian+village+dowling+park+fl&form=APMCS1 People can sign over what assets they have, even if not very much. You first live in a house, then a condo, then the nursing home as disease progress. All living quarters are regularly checked. Meals supplied. Social events for those who can.
