Given that your feet problems have been caused by steroid use ( is that correct?) I'd like to know if the steroids were worth it? I just wondered if your ms was so bad that you felt steroids were the only way forward.

Orsova, when I joined this group didn't know how serious steroids side effects could be and learned from Sue about it. Since I tell everyone to tough it out, because you'll suffer sooner or later. Wonderful for me to have someone that doesn't know me, give me such a gift.

Orsova, Yes the ms was bad at the times & I thought "quality of life". I denied what could happen & how bad it could get. If I had known what I know now the only times I would have considered it was for optic neuritis as so important to get that under control quickly.
For the other times I would have rested & let it take its time. All the steroids really do is speed up the recovery time. It would have taken more rest & more physio etc but it would have been worth it in the long run.

I now have a lot of osteo-arthrititis, have krohns in both both feet, have had the major surgery on right foot. I have got a lot of other things as well & some are from steroids. Would not have it again unless I have to like when I had pneumonia & had no choice.

Thanks, Sue. I know that yours is a real story iof damned if you do damned if you dont, story. I know that for one, I have avoided steroids since my first two episodes with it. The next time I got optic neuritis I decided to 'tough' it out rather than take steroids and within two weeks it passed. I just don't know what I would chose to do if my MS got really bad.

Alma, I agree with you wholeheatedly and am so grateful to Sue for sharing her experiences. Her accounts of her problems have been invaluable to me and I relly hope that others will benefit from her experience.

Glad to hear things are progressing with your healing Sue. You must have the patience of Jobs to endure all you have. I'm glad you finally get to have some relief from the boot and you are sleeping much better. When one gets a good nights sleep, the day doesn't look so daunting.

Thank you both for responding. I am glad that my story has been a warning to others as I wouldn't want anyone else going through what I have.
I don't know about being brave but you have to do what you have to really.
I know a couple of others have asked about steroids & if I see it I answer but please warn them about them too. Dr's tend to just give them as an easy answer too.
Brain dead other than that.

I want to say Thank You Sue.and others I was on steroids short term for crohns back in the early 90's and hubby is afraid of them. So seeing what you have to say about them,I guess I'll only do them as a last resort. did someone say the krohns of the feet??

Hi JanTaylor, It is actually Kohlers disease of the foot. That basically disintegrates the bones so that they don't hold your weight. The Bones break at joints & are too painful to walk on.
I may have mis typed sometime but Krohns is stomach problem really from what I understand.

I still would not use steroids at all of can be avoided as they do have a lot of bad side affects. Please do think carefully before using them at all.
