First Neuro Appointment

I have my first Neuro appointment tomorrow, after my diagnosis. I'm a little nervous. Can someone give me an idea of what to expect at the first appt? I'm guessing he's going to tell me what type of MS I have and so forth. Maybe treatment options? I'm still a bit overwhelmed. Any advice would be lovely!

Hello there! Welcome to the group!! Hopefully, you'll find much support here, as we all need it or to give it at different times.

I believe your doc will go over diagnosis and which type. Treatment options will be discussed. It's a little overwhelming, so take someone with you who will probably actually "hear" more of it than you will. Stay strong, and remember MS isn't a death sentence. Best of luck to you!! i agree take someone along, i was glad i did.
I walked out of mine and forgot what he told me 75% of it anyway

write things down questions ect.....if you can take someone because it is soooooo overwhelming....they can let you know what you forget
good luck and dont let him her intimidate they have a habit of that, in my experiance anyway
ask whatever you need to ok DONT be fobbed off

He will probably go over test results and treatment options. I always ask if I can get a copy of test and MRI reports. (I keep my own file.) At least ask to read them. Also ask for pamphlets or information on treatment options. The pharmaceutical companies give the docs all kinds of handout materials to give patients. That gives you a starting point for research and decision making. I agree that it's helpful to take someone along if that's an option. Don't be afraid to ask questions and take time to decide what course of treatment to persue. I took several weeks to read and weigh my options before deciding on Avonex. The more information you gather, the better you'll be able to make the right choices for yourself. Good luck and welcome to the group. You'll find so many caring supportive people here.
