I was diagnosed with Fibro many years ago and then when they finally diagnosed my MS 5 years ago, the neuro told me that the Fibro was just a part of the MS. Don't know how true that is. But, that's what he said.

I also got diagnosed with Fibro years ago and yes my neuro also said they are "related" and you can have both at same time which stinks!!!.. I take Zanaflex which works out good for both diseases.. helps with muscle spasms mostly...

Do you take the Zanaflex during the day? Do you work? Because, I take it at night, but I can't take it during the day. I'm still working. And it's very difficult, with all the pain and cognitive problems. And the Zanaflex just knocks me out.

This is an interesting topic. Some doctors believe Fibro is real while others have told me it's not real. The doctor who told me I was just getting old, said that Fibro was a non existent disease. Yet my previous doctor when I lived in southern Ca. thought I could have it, although I don't experience the hurting all over with widespread pain, like the tv adverts say. I have mainly certain same things that bother me. I also have tremors in my hands, which I was told would not be Fibro. So I don't know. I still wonder if I have Fibro though too. All I know is right now I'm having a horrible bout of dizziness, that just won't stop! uggh!

I wonder if having several trauma injuries to the neck and spine can have anything to do with either MS or Fibro? I've been hit six times in car accidents, and injuries to my neck, and spine each time.

we started out thinking julie's MS was fibro. saw the commercial on TV for some fibro med; all the symptoms listed mirrored what she was having. She had a spinal tap last Aug. for a broken spinal disk, and I have learned sometimes leaking spinal fluid can present like MS.

Turned out, I was trying to find any other explanation for the MS. Kind of medical rationalization. As for your query, Murphy's Law being what it is, lol, it's possible to have any combination of issues. Only your Doc would know for sure.......but sadly, it seems the diagnosis of both fibro and MS is tricky and subjective.

I was dxed with MS in feb 2002, and received FM dx in 2009...my neuro didnt say there was a correlation with the two, but I also didn't ask.

I was dx with fibro in 1992 and MS in 2006. Fibro has trigger (tender) points that you have to have so many of them to be dx. The same neuro dx both.

I was dx'd with MS in 2007 & i am now showing signs of FM. I am going to speak to my Neurologist as ever since my MS dx i have had headaches everday, they say that is not part of MS. It is part of FM i also have quite a lot of other symptoms of FM, i am really hoping i do not have it as i am wanting to start a family.
