Hi everyone. My body has been not cooperating over the past 2-1/2 months. It started with pain in my thighs, incredible fatigue, hair falling out. My PCP thinks slight hypothyroid and CFS, although she has not done all necessary tests to outrule other things and is very arrogant(so I'm getting rid of her!) Because I'd been under enormous stress, my neuro referred me to a "somatic psychologist," on his theory that stress was causing body symptoms of unknown physical origin.
Meantime, the pain has spread to biceps, calves, feet and has gotten much worse. My ankles and wrists feel weak. Keep dropping things. Occasionally, words come out wrong, I can't remember details I knew very well, slight slurring, off balance (very embarrassing).
This a.m. I felt reasonably ok before taking a bath (pretty warm but not scalding), but once in there, my feet cramped up really bad and my calves started to hurt more. After I got out, my vision was kind of strange, and it seemed like things were moving in slo-mo. I felt kind of frozen for a few seconds. This type of thing happened once before after taking a shower this summer, and I also had tingling and prickly feelings in my left arm and hand that time.
Basically, I'm pretty scared. I have a friend with MS, and he told me my symptoms sound like MS. I used to be in great athletic shape with a thriving law practice. Since my parents died (Dad in Feb and mom last year) and I got in huge argument over settling the estate with my brother, my health has really gone downhill.
I feel like my brother and other remaining family, and even one good friend now, are not taking me seriously when I talk about hurting and being so tired. I do have bipolar but I've been stable for a very long time, and I'm not making this stuff up! My psychiatrist referred me to a rheumatologist to eval for fibromyalgia. I truly am not a hypochondriac, or a crazy person! Just thought I would post for support. My body has never been this screwd up. Thanks,
Daisy

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
I have a thyroid disease and I have had it 15 years. It caused a lot of my hair to fall out and many of the symptoms you've described but its been fine for years. i just take a thyroid suppliment. The many symptoms you have described do sound like MS and taking hot baths or showers it not good Daisy. It will cause strange prickly feelings and dizziness and blurred vision...Heat is not good, but neither is stress and it sounds like that is making you feel worse. There are so many things this could be but in the mean time just know it can take a long time to get dx and you need to stay calm and wait for the test results. Thyroid problems are easy to dx, just blood work but if its MS it could take longer.
good luck
please know that your not alone on this journay hon..we are here for you..regardless of the mri results this time around...

Last night I could hardly go to sleep because my feet and legs hurt so much! Today, more of the same, plus lower arms and biceps. WTF?
I'm going to try to get an appt with my neuro ASAP this week to get something for pain (neurontin, etc. or whatever else I've been reading about). It figures this is the worst I've felt and this is the busiest week ahead work-wise I've have in a long time.
I'm taking 200mg provigil and it's not cutting it. Do people generally take more than that per day? Thanks
Daisy
he needs to be the one to dx you with ms.
have you had any tests done with him?...maybe you need a new neuro as well...
keep us posted, this is very interesting...katie
Since my labs showed slight hypothyroid my PCP put me on thyroid hormone replacement in early August. From the end of July through now, things have been getting worse and worse. I guess I was attributing it to possible CFS or thryoid (since my PCP was).
My neuro was new to me and asked me this past spring when my last MRI was. I told him it was a year ago, but I was wrong - - it's been 3 years (severe dizziness/off balance episode at that time).
I called my neuro's office and said I could hardly walk and climb stairs this a.m. (a lot of pain) and really wanted to see him ASAP. I'm seeing him tomorrow a.m. He doesn't know about all these new/worsening symptoms.
He thought my dizziness was anxiety. I finally decided this was all too much to be "just" thyroid or CFS (or stress/anxiety). Who knows, maybe I'm just a whack job. I feel like it sometimes.
Hang in. You are welcome here.

I used to love relaxing in bubble baths, but apparently no more (scared to now)! I keep saying I will take yoga again but just haven't signed up yet. My massage person is trying to sell me on Qi Gong too - - a friend of hers teaches that.
As for stress . . . that's a big one for me to work on - - saying no and sticking to boundaries in toxic relationships (my brother and his wife). Thanks again. This group has been great so far. :-)
