I work at a gym, and have for the last 3 years. I consider myself to be in fairly good shape, I have rode my bike almost every day for the last 4 years, even in the winter. On the days that I couldn't ride my bike because of snow, I walked 2+km a day.
I have recently taken up running. I have never been able to run before, after 3 minutes I would have a stitch and be out of breath. I am now able to run for about 12 minutes at a constant pace without having to slow down. So my cardio levels are pretty good. My problem is:
When I look around, there are people who are at the same level of fitness as me, or higher or lower and I sweat WAY more than they do. After 30 minutes on the treadmill (alternating between walking and running) I am dripping with sweat and my face is beat red. I have only noticed this happening with the people who are out of shape and overweight.
Is this possibly an MS thing? Could my signals be messed up causing me to sweat more than the average person?

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
Damn I am SO jealous you can still exercise...
Do it for all of us cripples!! HUGS
I have heard that excessive sweating can be a symptom of some health problems other than MS, so I would talk to your regular MD and see what it could be. This is not normal and none of the people I know with MS sweat a lot. So please check this out with a doctor soon. I do not think that it is related to MS.
Looking through my reference books, I cannot find anything on excessive sweating as a symptom of MS.
From what I have read & talked to others this is not uncommon with people with ms. Simply because the internal thermometer is broke is how I refer to it (same as my rememberer).
When I go to our ms physio group a lot of us go red in the face & sweat heaps. Thats with moderate to mild exercise.
as reply #4 said it can be a signal of other health issues too so I would still check it with your dr at your next appt.
The only thing I have found that helps me with the "hot flushes" where I suddenly go hot & can be doing nothing too, I have soy milk on my cereal every morning & this controls it.
I was told of this by Japanese & Asian students we had here who they all use it all the time. A lot of people dont like the taste of soy milk so will buy soy beans & cook them in the vegetables or get soy tablets (apparently). This might help you too, its a suggestion that has worked for me.
I will bring it up with my doctor the next time I go, but it doesn't seem to be hurting me yet. My only goal right now is to build up my muscles and cardio as much as possible, because who knows when MS will spring back up.
