I have a question concerning "double vision". I have had three episodes of double vision in the last two weeks, Once when I had to walk in the extreme heat too far, and one just riding in the car with my friends.
The third time it happened was Saturday night when my family surprised me with a party for my birthday. Confusion comes each time as does the speech problems. I had trouble recognizing my own grandbabies and family members so it took a few seconds to realize the party was actually for me. I felt so stupid and out of it but the whole thing was so upsetting it was all I had in me not to show how scared I was and try my best to look surprised. I love them all so much and didn't want to scare them and I certainly didn't want to act ungrateful for such a wonderful gesture of love.
The flashes from the cameras was so painful in my left eye and needless to say the near blindness from them made me appear drunk (I look that way anyway when I walk lately) I know years ago when I would get the flash from cameras in my eyes it was just a small white ball that lingered for a few seconds, and would disappear but this was almost totally bright white and lasted more than a few seconds. Stabbing pain in my left eye went straight through to the back of my head like I had been shot in the eye with the camera. Sounds silly doesn't it, but sooooo true.
It was towards the end of the party when I was thanking my daughter's for the beautiful decorated brown and beige cake that they told me the cake was actually beige and bright pink. I couldn't say a word, I was so stunned and scared.
I decided since my neuro is still testing me for everything under the sun to rule other things out, I would do something on my own for myself and called my GP and asked for physical therapy for my legs, which she ordered right away, and I made an appointment with an optomologist for tomorrow afternoon. My neuro may get upset that I started taking things into my own hands but DAMN I'M SCARED and I want treatment and I want answers. I walked normal last summer and this summer I need a wheelchair, walker and cane. I talked normall last summer and this summer my words get stuck. My head bobs out of control with simple movements and my whole body shakes terribly if i try to clean my house. Soooooo tired of being sick and people looking at me with saddness in their eyes, I just want my body back.
I'm so sorry for blowing up I know you all have so much more on your plate than I do, but it'sgetting so hard to hold this all inside and try to act like "Hey it will be fine" because it won't be fine until they find out what the hell is invading my space.
so now, do any of you ever get these symptoms from your eyes going crazy? AGAIN SO SORRY I LOST IT HERE
Hope you all have a better day than yesterday
Kath

PT is slow going at first & hard on the body at first, but I'm in the PT process & (for really bad walking issues & other MS symptoms) & it slowly is starting to help me learn how to walk again...I have MS & Epilepsy caused by the MS & MS meds. are too toxic for my system, so PT & staying active (as much as I possibly can is all I have to combat my MS)...this & Epilepsy meds.
PT & the Epilepsy meds. seem to be slowly doing something positive. But I'm only 6months into diagnosis & I have had MS & Epilepsy caused by the MS for 20 + yrs., so there is still symptoms I need help with...
As we all know MS is a lifelong process & not an overnight "fix" (for lack of a better word), but if we are determined to work at it, even though not every day will be easy (God, some days will be really hard health wise), but we can make every day manageable to the best of our abilities!
Take care,
Stay sane!
Vision Problems
People with MS can experience double vision, eye discomfort and uncontrollable eye movements. Generally, eye pain is present when the eyes are moved. Inflammation of the optic nerve (optic neuritis) causes blurred vision, color confusion and even blindness in one eye.
Good Luck
I vented on here then went in and took a nice long luke warm shower and I feel alittle wiped out now but soooo much better and no so depressed. To know I have support from people who are going through the same thing is priceless to me.
Thank you all again
Kath
I can't offer any more than what was given here, and I'm glad you are calling your neuro. This is definately something to bring to his attention. Good Luck.
My other vision problems - always temporary - have been seeing the edge of a straight board as wavy, and looking at road signs in August and having them appear to be covered with ice. Fortunately someone else was driving that time.
