Really, no funding because the chemo drugs are off patent and no one wants to help us otherwise? You know, I hated big pharma before I had MS, and hate them even more now for not pursuing that which won't make them heaps of money by keeping people semi-sick but still well enough to afford their crazy-expensive drugs. The US government, and to a somewhat lesser extent my Canadian government, are more than complicit in enabling this criminal behaviour, and it's disgusting.

Thank you for posting this. I did not see anything locally, and will forward this link to my local news station. I think the more people are aware of funding problems for promising drugs, the people who are able to donate may do so due to a recent viewing on the news.

It's worth a shot anyway.

I had checked out this treatment several years ago...It was mostly approved for people whose MS was in the last stages. The entire immune system is erased; thereby killing all the immunity we are born with, acquire through the years, and through vaccinations. Please check the mortality rate on this treatment; if you get the slightest infection while this process is being conducted, it can be fatal.

Didnt understand twinklee1's comment. What has Obama to do with your not getting a cure for MS. Im not an American and i dont vote, but if i were at the helm of affairs (and im an MS patient)and was introducing a health plan: If it couldnt cover every issue, i certainly would want to cover the majority. Its important to appreciate the changes being made however frustrating our personal circumstances may be. Good luck and good energy is my wish for you; coming to terms is not easy (dont know that i ever will) but it needs less energy than fighting it! At least your focusing on just one front.

HiCy is currently being used off label for patients with severe NMO. (An extremely serious and often fatal neuroimmunological demyelinating disease.) Right now I use Rituximab and am neurologically stable, but in the event that it fails me in the future, I would not hesitate to undergo HiCy, *if* all other options had been exhausted. It's not a procedure to be undertaken lightly.
