Mailman, I've been this way for years, but I just thought it meant I was disorganized--which I am. Men usually can't multitask. Most are single-minded where women do three things at once. Men need to concentrate on one thing, so when you can't, it is very frustrating.

They call that "executive" skills, the ability to multitask and not lose focus. It's definitely one of the cognitive issues that MS'rs deal with. I've also heard it described as like having A.D.D. too. I have it all the time.

It just comes & goes, some days you're sharp, some days you're not. I hide it as much as possible and save the mindless easy stuff for the brain dead days.

Just another typical day in our MS World.

As an Software Application Developer of Business Applications, this is my biggest challenge...

As I think back, this has been with me forever, but before this last year, it was just enough to make me creative, and after three wives, I would enjoy the ability to zone out from time to time...

But now...trying to store in the brain the multi dimensional puzzle that makes up the relationships of a good business application so as to know the next line of code to write...oops...where did that puzzle that it just took me an hour to formulate in my brain go....it is bad news for me now...

I am rejoicing tonite...I had two good productive days at work...in a row...

This is my biggest problem, just losing where I am at in a thought, or a discussion, or in a quest across the room, or across the desk...really bad when a corporate level executive is standing over you and you your train of thought, can't think of any word to say...

and then you remember that just a year or two back, this was not such a big problem.

It is spilling over to the rest of my life...I find that I have a lot of trouble...starting anything...and I mean just about anything...it is just easier to not start...and that is beginning to scare me.

arrrg...very frustrating when trying to read and go throught the whole page and then realized i have been thinking of something else after the first sentence and have to start all over again several times.

My job requires that I interview people in order to assist them with completing forms, forms that will in turn possibly gain them benefits. There are times when I worry that they think I'm dim witted or stoned because I cannot think of the word I need. Or I have to stop and regroup before continuing with an explanation. Aren't some MSers prescribed ritalin? It's a given that MS can cause brain fog. Add to that the side effects of medications like lyrica. Well, I had to change the time of day I take each med in order to minimize the effects. It isn't you. It is the MS.

Yes Mailman! OMG this happens to me so much lately. It's terrible, and it's not easy to explain to someone else either. It's like my wiring in my head is shorting out. Like a cell phone with a bad connection......know what I mean?
I'll be alright for awhile.......then it hits me again. Some people say "oh I get those brain farts" all the time. Well this is a bit differant then those........get those too lol. Really it is frustrating, and when it's real bad, my "to do" list is in more detail, cause i'm just not "getting it". My words again, have been getting twisted around, as well as typing a sentence. I just get a blank in my brain............ Hugs.

After reading LilMargie's reply, it reminded me of something my Neurlogist had said. After he went over all my testing with Psychotherapy he said it appears I have ADD. I was shocked. And yes that is what it is like for me sometimes. I get so overwhelmed........my brain is running 100 mph I swear. It's awful.

My mind jumps in the MIDDLE of a damn sentence. Or I will just completely lose the rest of a sentence. I can't think of the word I want to use, and I can't discuss things as eloquently as I used to; I feel very dumb at times. I used to pride myself on being able to have an intelligent discussion, now sometimes I feel like I am babling. It is embarassing and frustrating. If it helps, you've got lots of company with this problem.

Oh lord, if I had a dime for every time this has happened to me, I'd be......oh yeah, I'd be a wealthy woman. This is almost a constant state of being for me, but every once in a great while I will have a few seconds of perfect clarity in my brain. The trumpets play, lights beam down, then just as quickly it's gone. I've learned to treasure those few seconds when they happen.

we must be a regular riot when we have gatherings.

yeppers!!! my mind is like I have ADD or something. I like to combat things but I cant I start on one thing and jump to another -I am so not ADD but it feels like it in my head! maybe my head is ADD.lol
was not like this before dx. HUGZ

I am ADHD. My mind has always jumped around. I have to work very hard to stay grounded and if I don't have a lot of interest, I am easily bored. Now I can just contribute it to my MS.
