i was wondering do i have to quit work to collect ssi or ssdi? when i went to the ssi office in early july, they told me that i have to earn less then $900 a month. i make more than that in 2 weeks if i work 40 hrs a week. i dot anymore i work about 25-27 and i still think thats a lot for me. my boss also pays my medical ins. i live in NV, and am at a complete loss. thnx

To recieve SSDI and still work you must make under 900 a month that is right so if you want SSDI you probably would have to quit work for a short time. Look into state disability, I recieved half of my salary for a year, in CA and applied for SSDI at the end of that year, and recieved SSDI rather quickly in CA it different other places, check with your local office do not call national office, they do not know anything. You may be able to get Cobra or medicaid for now as well, I really do not know about how part-time work would effect you. It is a hard road we must travel, maybe your employer would be willing to work your schedule to give you more breaks. Make an appt with your local office they can answer any question.Good luck!

If you maintain that much earning potential and benefits why do you want SSI?

probaby too many symptoms to deal with. I make about that much money too and it's a fairly easy job I do (teaching new hires to do data entry) and I cant even keep my head up sometimes for more than 15 min at a time. I'm so pissed because I WANT to work but my body says NO.

I am in MN and I have to file long term disabilty before filing for ssdi. I know I love my job and what I do and I make good money well enough to live comfortable. But I have to stand and entertain while my body is in constant movement. I can barely make it half the night and find myself taking medical early outs (thank god for those) anyway I know my employer is getting feed up with it so I just figured I mise well go ahead and file before I lose my job and all benefits. Do you have some type of std or ltd that your insurance provides for you while you file?

to mr coffee its not that i dont want to work. my job allows me 2 weeks paid time off, that was in january by april i had used all my time. so when i leave work now it is all unpaid. my boss pays my medical ins but i am not sure how much longer he will continue to do that if i am constantly leaving work early. as it is now i work about 25 hrs a week if that and i find myself to be extremely tired by the end of the day. i have to move around a lot at work and i am starting to feel overwhelmed
