Cost increase of over $100!

I can't believe they can do this. My betaseron prescription has gone up from $1830 a month to $1966 in under two month. How do they expect people to be able to afford this drug? I graduate in 4 months and I will have no drug plan. I am so frustrated right now. These jerks think they can charge whatever they want because we're at their mercy. It's not fair.

i was SHOCKED when i started my copaxone and saw a price tag of over 3k.

I was/am so lucky to have insurance right now. All I could think about what how in the world are people supposed to care for themselves without insurance.

Have you looked into state sponsored insurance? Another option may be to call the betaseron manufacturer. They may have plans to help you pay for your meds. I know the copaxone people do.

that would be fantastic, but I live in Canada and I'm able to get government benefits... unfortunately I still won't be able to afford my medication with benefits (I'd have to pay $300 a month... seems like it's a very small amount but when I only make about $1000 a month and half of that goes right to rent

After you graduate and lose your drug plan you will become eligible for Betaserons Prescription Assistance. Unless you graduate and immediately get a fine job paying the big bucks. If that happen you have to remember all of us, the little people, and take us out for a drink or something. :)

Take a breath . . . no need to panic . . . as nnyl1 said, go to the Betaseron web site. You can find out how to apply for help . . . it's not hard at all to do.

Been out of work for 1 1/2 years uninsured for a year just got my first avonex shipment today from biogen qualified for their patient assistant program for 2 years unless i find a job and get benefits back then the insurance will pay for it.
Don't freak out about this all the manufactures have assistant programs just start looking in to the programs so if you need to apply you will be ready they approved me in one week but i had all the info ready for them.
