I'm wondering of anyone on here that takes Copaxone is suffering from depression as a result of it? I know that it's much less likely to cause depression than the interferons, but there's always the risk I suppose. Any answers or information will be greatly appreciated.

I was on Copaxone for 8 years and it never caused depression. In fact , I could not take interferons because of depression risk! Many people with MS have depression. I take antidepressants because of the depression MS has caused!

Thank you for your reply Sandi. I am already on antidepressants, they just don't seem to be doing the job. I have called my doc and am waiting to hear back from him.

Unfortunately depression goes hand in hand with M.S. regardless of what medications we're taking. I've been on Copaxone since March without any reactions. However, my depression had been bad for several months anyway so I decided to go back on an anti-depressant. I'm taking Mirtazapine 15 mg which is the generic version of Remeron. Since starting back on this medication around a month ago, I've noticed my depression is nearly gone, and most importantly the horrible fatigue we all go through has dissipated as well. I've been on & off Copaxone for 3 yrs....I currently being treated for depresion at an outpatient facility & I'm on Lactimal....hoping for the best..was also hospitalized last year for depression..between depression & MS symptoms been out of work alot lately..Hope I don't lose my job..trying to take one day at a time...

I am much BETTER with the Copaxone than the BetaMonster (Betaserone).

I did talk to my doc today, well, his nurse, and after SHE talked to the doctor, she called me back and said that he wanted me to stop taking Trazodone, which I was taking at night to help me sleep. So belatedly, as usual, I read up on some of the side effects of Trazodone, and suffice it to say the rest of them are now floating around somewhere in out sewer system. Thanks to all of you for your answers, and Jani? I thoroughly agree. This was nothing compared to the Betaseron depression. Good to see ya' again girlie. :-)
