I really don't know how to describe my co-workers. They are heartless. Since I have developed my issues, working is more of a challenge. I usually just sit at a desk. I used to teach some classes and they were to hard on my body as there was a lot of walking involved. Well, the more I walk, the more my body fights and I end up on my cane or in my wheelchair. I got a doctor's note to get me out of the teaching. I still have to get up and get appointments and walk but not nearly as much. Well, in retaliation, my co-workers decided to go to the boss and complain about how much work they have and that getting the door for computer class was too much for them to do. Now the supervisor created a schedule for all of us in the unit to get the door when someone comes to use computers. Our building is a govt. building and is secure, so people cannot just walk in. So, I am scheduled on Tuesdays to get the door for these people. Isn't this what my doctor's note was to prevent? I have difficulty walking and when I do too much walking I end up in my wheelchair.
I feel I need to talk to my supervisor about this but I want to wait until I have cooled off and gotten some other opinions about this.
I have already started a more "sedentary" job assignment because of the problems I have walking. She knows that I need "sedentary" work. This does not qualify as "sedentary" in my opinion.
I just hate this job anymore. It's like since I developed a disability, I am treated like a problem. I feel that the powers that be are doing everything they can to get me to quit the job. I definitely am going to write up my complaint to the EEOC. I talked with an attorney before about the bosses going behind my back and trying to talk to my doctor about what my disabilities are. She said I would have to first file with the EEOC before I can do anything else.
I would rather volunteer my time at my daughter's school than deal with the insincere witches I work with here.
Tell me what you think. Does my doctor's statement stating that walking is too much for me include this "doorman" job? Is this sedentary work that my doctor suggested I do?

I have experienced a similar situation when I worked...ending up with my forced retirement. I look relatively healthy, and this has worked for and against me. Sometimes co-workers wonder why I needed special accommodations while some used whatever symptoms you experience against you though the particular symptoms is not relevant or impacts your job performance. Sometimes they just made things up. It is easy for upper management to believe a "healthy" person rather than someone who suffers from a chronic disease.
You stated you would prefer to volunteer at your daughters school. I highly recommend this. The stress from working in a toxic environment will more serious that many realize. My best to you and good luck.
I will state that I am highly subjective on the situation having experienced something similar. Perhaps speaking with a counselor confidentially may help your ascertain and clarify your options.
