Didn't know what to title this & that seemed as good as any.
Are others looking forward to Christmas or not & dreading it?
I am finding each year that I am getting less & less interested in Christmas parties/get togethers etc. I didn't even go to the ms group Christmas lunch which I could have organised appt's different so I could have gone.
There is another one next Thursday morning so I will try to go to that.
I have declined works Christmas party (never go as its only a booze up), we have been invited to my sisters on christmas eve, we went last year & it is my sister & hubby, one daughter & her son & his father so a small group. Neither of us really want to go & no real reason.
I haven't written Christmas cards yet, forced myself to write a few today & didn't enjoy it - chore, past I always had them written before December hit & enjoyed getting them, now when we get one I'm like, dam I will have to start doing them soon. I am writing the basic in them & that's all, in the past I used to always write a note in them to people I haven't seen for a while or live interstate etc. It just feels like one more thing I have to do.
Is it because I am so busy with medical crap? Last week I had rheumatologist on Wednesday after work, pain clinic on Thursday (& they are changing my meds so I have to decrease & go off gabapentin before I can start endep). Pain is getting worse already & I have only decreased by 1 a day (take 4). This week I had Botox clinic on Monday & had 27 units around my eyes - to try to stop nerve movement & keep eyelid open. Had a shocking migraine today so didn't go to work & on Friday (supposed to work) I am having a shoulder dilation done (cortisone under ultrasound) at the local hospital. Arm will probably be sore for a few days. Still got foot in boot & got mri booked for 20 December & looks like wont see the foot surgeon till January. I am struggling to walk at all, have trouble with vision - got an appt with low vision clinic next Tuesday too.
Got no energy & dreading summer & the heat.
To make things worse we are scattering Dad's ashes at some park on Saturday so that is probably going to be a big family thing which I usually avoid. I don't get on with one of my sisters & don't ask me why but she turned her back on me last time I saw her so dread seeing her & her 3 sons who are stuck up.
I think everything is just getting to me & being in pain constantly & barely able to walk at all is probably causing it too.
I used to love Christmas, look forward to catching up with friends (cant be bothered) & going to a carols service or similar. This year no joy at all. It seems to be getting worse each year.
I have spent hours on the phone with different technicians trying to get chat to work. Got a new windows computer & it wont work on there either, all of them say 3rd party thing so they are not responsible (internet provider, computer service & the technician who came out) so can't even chat to people live anymore & miss that too.
I am having a real dummy spit & feeling sorry for myself arent I? Not usual for me but I am so tired of people being happy.
Hubby wants to go away for Christmas (in caravan) & we have his family Christmas on 18th, going to be real hard without his Mum there for 1st time. I can't get excited about going away or family lunch too which is usually good.
Anyway, I hope everyone else has a great Christmas & health stays good too.
Hugs

I'm going to need about a month off to recover:). Hope everyone has a great & not too tiring Christmas.

Just to rub salt in my feelings today we went to a family picnic to put Dad's ashes in a lake. Found out that the rest of the family have all planned a Christmas lunch at one of my sister's place & all knew about it. Towards the end of the afternoon (after Dad's ashes were in the water) & we had lunch, we were basically ignored all day other than hello & bye & one sister giving us a couple of family history books she had been working on the other sister came over & asked what are we doing for Christmas. HELLO its 2 weeks time, I replied that we are going away (which we are) & she said ok & turned away & talked to others. No interest in what we were doing etc.
When we were leaving Mum presumed we were going to her place for coffee & after & when we said no she kept trying to say we could come in through back entrance (close to road, she is in retirement village). When I said no, I would not be able to walk that far & I am on scooter today she said "ok we will see you at Beth's on Christmas day" (again assuming) & I said no we are not going & she was not happy. Just said why not & I said we are going away.
I was not happy with the way they all planned it & assumed we would go along with it.
We are going to have our own Christmas & enjoy it quietly. Just another reason why not with family!
Short version. I get my injection on Sunday Christmas Day. or my son might do it Saturday which is much better. My tree is decorated because it been left up for three years now. I don't care who sees it up all year as I don't have the energy to take it down. Cards will go out tomorrow. It seems like December came too fast. I have a loved one fighting cancer and is close to remission.
Family get together at pizza place on 17th.
I have 3 CD of Christmas music I played as I enjoy this time of year.
I wish all of you a Merry Christmas, Happy Holiday and a better New Year in 2012.
Hugs, Bunni
Have tried listening to Christmas music but that made me remember other Christmas times when I really enjoyed it & looked forward to all of it.
I did manage to do my Christmas cards & send them out. Actually heard Christmas music at the shops today for the 1st time today.
Like your idea of get together at Pizza place, much less stress & easier for all.
Going to buy a pack of candy canes or santa chocolates for those at work that way no one's nose will get out of joint if they are already on hols etc. Might even buy the ones with the green stripes that are a lime colour & eat one at work. That will really shock them as it makes me hyper, full of energy, quick quips back & all sorts of replies etc - raised eyebrows a few years (& that was with a different team that knew me better) ago when someone gave me one of them & it sent me nutso big time. Everyone was laughing at/with me & I didn't care! Maybe that's what I need a good belly laugh!
We have picked a place about 1-1.5hours away to go in our caravan, been there before, lovely country town with lots of trees, swimming pool at caravan park & they have vacancies. That makes us look forward to the break more too.
Went shopping & bought myself 4 pairs of black pants with elastic type waist so happy with that as all less than 1/2 price. Shopping always makes me feel better esp when found them all then realised didn't have wallet (had been swimming so don't carry handbag) so hubby paid for all of them LOL.
Sorry we don't do the Happy Holidays here, have not heard anyone say it, shows another small difference, mind you it wont be long till that happens.

Like many others I get burned out on Xmas, why, because when I was growing up Halloween came first, then Thanksgiving, then Christmas, then New Years.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone
That it itself is a great reason to feel good about this Christams.
Tedw, love your avatar & glad your some in the army is home too. I have several friends whose partners/family members are still there & will be for a while yet as we are not pulling out as quick as USA.
I did try to get myself feeling more Christmas by wearing one of my Christmas tshirts today. I bought 1 this year & then found the 3 I bought after Christmas last year (always the way). So decided I will start wearing them on days off not just when doing Christmas things. Will see if that helps.
Can only try.
merry chistmas and happy yule xD
