Usually I get a daily influx of emails on health topics. An article from Dr. Mercola really stood out recently though because it mentioned that fat cells have their own mitochondria. Not only was this the first I'd heard of this, he also mentioned that fat serves a purpose in our metabolism. Another new factoid for me. The bottom line for me was to appreciate that even our fat cells play a...

I just do not feel well and I really think that it's because I cried yesterday on my way to work about my Aunt who is in the hospital. I don't think that we will have her much longer. She is very frail. Now she needs help eating. So, this is the third time in a year that I felt this way after crying. I think crying releases toxins into my body. I also worked up a sweat at the gym...

Does the fact that antibiotics can roll back MS tell us something about the nature of the illness itself?
I think it does. Components of MS, at some stages and in some variants, may be:
A bacterial toxaemia. This may account for the mental fog, blunting of insight, greatly increased reaction times and many other non-specific symptoms which are hard to explain by demyelination alone, including fatigue; indeed, there is evidence of abnormal cortical activity. [Leocani L et al., Neuroimage. 2001;13(6 Pt 1):1186-92.] A toxaemia would be expected to resolve quickly with effective antibiotic treatment, as has happened here.
Just thinking out loud.
I'll repeat what I wrote in lilydog's discussion...
An interesting video attributing MS to a "chronic infection". Maybe it is, but it'll be years before we know whether it really is or not. "Cures" like this (year long regimine of antibiotics)and CCSVI, have one major fault. They have not been put through double blind clinical testing. Remember, even in clinical trials, the placebos "cure" some of the volunteers. These "cures" can be attributed to something I heard a neurologist say and that is; "we have the power to cure ourselves within ourselves."
Personally, I think those who have experienced "cures" of MS using CCSVI or even this antibiotic regimine, may have well "cured" themselves through their own faith in the procedure and not through the procedure at all.
I wish we could all come into a room and discuss this stuff in person. Wouldn't that be interesting??? I would love to meet many of you all. Now that would be a great movie.
