There is something out there about the government mandating that we switch over to these kinds of llight bults, during the Bush administration. I'll have to research it.

Nobody can tell us how to dispose of these light bulbs. I think I will get rid of them in my house, and deal with the government when the mandate comes in. Thanks for the post!

Now what! I sure am getting tired of 'do this, don't do that' in EVERYTHING! At 55, I should be dead already! LOL My motto is: do everything in moderation.

A friend of mine told me a long time ago that those bulbs should not be thrown away into our landfills like the old ones, due to the environmental hazard, so I never changed over. Plus he told me that they are only efficient if they are 'on' for long periods of time- if u turn them on & off all the time they are actually less efficient than the regular ones.

I get Popular Mechanics magazine and if I remember correctly in 2012 you will not be ableto get 100 watt bulbs and every year after they stop making the next wattage down ( 75, 60, 40) until you cannot get them any more.

So, I guess I better stock up now on my bulbs for my Easy Bake Oven from the 1970's? What a bunch of crap. Nice to have something else to talk about on here besides MS though!!! YAY!!!

I've never heard of the two souces given. I will continue to use my CFL & LED bulbs, until more recent & creditable sources saying otherwise. I live in a rural town, but even here, our city has a location to drop off the CFL bulbs when they burn out. You can find proper ways to clean a CFL up, on the rare chance one would break. IMO it's safer for me to use bulbs that keep me from having to climb ladders as often. To each their own. I make the choice to look at the source before I worry over things that are on the web. Anyone can make a web page.

atmhurley, the reason I posted this here was because it does pertain to MS and how the CFL bulbs could affect people with MS according to some research. My daughter in law from Australia knew about this from a close friend who has MS there. I just thought it was interesting and wanted to throw it out there to see if anyone else had ever heard of this.
