Breathing probs...lungs or throat?

I have had slightly labored breathing for a few weeks now. I did call me neuro, but he never called back. I went to my PCP on Monday, he called my neuro, told me my neuro would call me THAT DAY, and yet again he never called me back. My PCP didn't do anything because he said he was going to let my neuro "take the reins" on this since it is most likely MS related. So last night and today I have noticed that the area around my epiglottis keeps closing for just a second, and occasionaly I was make a sound sort of like snoring when I breath. Is my throat closing??? I don't have a cold, no congestion whatsoever, and it doesn't feel swollen. For a year I have had intermittent numbness in that area, as well as my usual right-sided facial numbness and random spots on my tongue. So could the labored breathing be due to a narrowing of my throat rather than something with my lungs? I have EXTREME fatigue (what's new...), and I had assumed it was just because I was too fatigued to take good breaths.

Thanks in advance. I will be calling my PCP again when they open this morning, as my neuro isn't in the office on Friday (not that it didn't any good to call him before).

I think my PCP would yell at anyone who did that to me or my mom! Isn't that kind of think what happens to people with sleep apnea, while they are ASLEEP? I'm glad you are calling your PCP about it and please tell him about your Neuro not calling... Take care!

I should add, when I saw the PCP on Monday, they put the oximeter on, and my saturation was 98%, so that was good. Also, about a month ago he had me wear the oximeter overnight to test me for sleep apnea, but that came out normal. I'm still waiting for them to call me back. They may not be open yet. I have all but given up on the neuro... ~Jlynn

Do you have any allergies or asthma like symptoms? Ask your docs about albuterol or something similar. Usually asthma affects the lungs, but I have experienced what felt like a constriction in my throat some times from asthma. Alburerol relaxes the smooth muscles in general, so even if your symptoms are not caused by asthma, your doc might be willing to try it.

Yes oxygen is good, don't go without it!

I've never had a problem with asthma or allergies. However, I did go ahead and take some Benadryl a couple of hours ago just to see if that would help. Unfortunately it didn't. ~J

I am currently having slight breathing problems and was informed recently that Copaxone can inflame the lymph nodes in the lungs....I no longer take the drug but I am on low dose naltrexone......it is working for me and can't say that it would work for you...everyone is different....as far as your neuro...fire him....i fired mine because she let me walk out of her office with a BP of 144/98 and said absolutely NOTHING....doctors work for you and not you them.....call and interview perspective doctors and find out what they are about....do not take NO for an answer with a disease like MS because it is so unpredictable...good luck!!!!

Gosh, I walk out of all of my doctor's offices with a BP of 150/90+ on a regular basis. lol I had called Shared Solutions and asked them if the Copaxone could cause the shortness of breath, and they told me no, so I just assumed it wasn't that. I will call them again and see what they think now that it has gone on for so long. In the meantime, I am STILL waiting for my PCP to call back....have given up on my neuro...I'm told he's out of town for the weekend. ~J

    My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
