This community is a place where members can discuss current events and weigh in on what's going on in the world.
I rarely do this, but the pressure is building and I need to vent before I explode. Here is my list:
- People who don't respond or acknowledge your existence when you walk by them and say "Hello". Especially when there are no other people around so there is no mistake that the greeting was intended for them. WTF! When this happens I want to turn around and yell, "I retract my greeting and I really don't care how your day is going! In fact, I hope you have a crappy day you inconsiderate, pompous ass!" But I don't. I just keep on walking and bottle it up.
- People who call and leave a voice message along the lines of, "Call me back right away it's urgent!", or some other life or death sounding message, but they don't say what exactly is so dire. Then, after I almost break my neck frantically trying to find their phone number that they felt they didn't need to include in the message, because as we all know I keep everyone's phone number in my back pocket, I finally get a hold of them only to find out they wanted to know if I saw the game last night or they ask me what I thought about the latest episode of whatever TV show that I don't watch. WTF! It takes a second to utter a word, maybe two, to let me know what you want to talk to me about and let me decide how urgent it really is.
- News programs, local or national, and their teasers. It should be against the law for a "news program" to have teasers. Just like my previous peeve, "Coming up in 15 minutes, the one thing in your home that will kill you, stay tuned". What could it be? Am I going to die? Should I not be eating these carrots? Is the world going to end? WTF! Tell us what it is! If it is newsworthy we'll stay tuned. The problem is that news ain't what it used to be if it ever was. Don't make me sit through Snooki's baby, Tom Cruise's religion and a Housewife's breakdown to get to something with substance. (Apologies to Snooki, Tom, Housewife and those who like that stuff)
- Advertising. If you are a very large company that has been around for a very long time and you are one of the few very large companies in your business, you should not be advertising. Especially if you are bankrupt. Oh, hi American Airlines. What's that? You say you're bankrupt? Oh, okay. THEN STOP BLOWING MONEY ON ADVERTISING! WTF! WE KNOW WHO YOU ARE AND WHAT YOU DO! If you are bankrupt, I don't want to see a commercial for your company. Drug companies shouldn't advertise either.
- Politicians. Republican, Democrat, Green, Independent, whatever. It surprises me that these folks in Washington have enough brain power to get themselves out of bed in the morning. Morons! We need to amend the Constitution to put in a few more requirements for Executive, Legislative and Judicial Branches of government. Even if it is just one more question on the application: Is your personal checkbook balanced? a) Yes b) No c) Don't know d) All of the above e) Don't have one. If you answer anything other than a)...DENIED! In my opinion there are probably only a handful of people in congress (the opposite of progress) today that can answer "a".
Whew! Starting to feel better. I had to get that off my chest. There's a lot more where that came from, but I've said too much already.

The repeating of certain ads in every break, now I just mute the tv until the programme comes back on. Charity blwoing money on advertising is another one, they could use that money for the actually charity instead of advertising as I doubt that any tv channel shows these ads for free. At least you feel better after getting that little lot off of your chest. Have a good weekend yourself Hey Now.
Ordinarily I would have started a new thread, but this one seemed so parallel.
Another source of frustration: People who do not follow the most basic rules of the road while driving. Some examples:
-- People who do not use their turn signals. Once a friend of mine asked me why I hand my signal on when I was in a clearly marked turning lane. Well, that is because not everyone at all angles can ascertain the type of lane I am in, and often oncoming traffic depends on understanding your intentions. I even use turn signals in parking lots. I would just be happy if people would use them on the road. That means when merging lanes as well.
-- Not giving the right of way to a car that is backing up. I discovered that many younger drivers do not know that this is a rule. Someone backing up can lose up to 66% of visibility, so this is the rationale behind the rule.
--Alternatively for the pedestrian, it is not a good idea to start crossing an intersection when the green light is on for moving traffic. This happens a lot in downtown areas where a pedestrian light is not used as it should be.
Lastly, for those who are new to traffic circles. The car already in motion in the circle has the right of way.
